2020 LoL World Championship Play-Ins Begin Tomorrow
The stage is almost ready for the largest League of Legends (LoL) tournament in the world - the 2020 LoL World Championship. The venue has been confirmed, fans and players are all hyped up, and all that’s left is the line up of competing teams to be determined starting this Friday!
On the 24th of September, the Play-Ins for LoL Worlds 2020 will commence. 10 teams will compete against each other over the weekend for a spot at the main event, to bring them one step closer to the trophy and title of best LoL team in the world.
Competing at the Play-Ins are:
- Legacy Esports
- MAD Lions
- SupperMassive Esports
- Team Liquid
- LGD Gaming
- PSG Talon
- Unicorns Of Love
- V3 Esports
Each group will play a single round-robin cycle, with the first-place teams both advancing to the Main Event, and the last place teams being eliminated. The third and fourth-place teams in each group will play a best-of-five series, with the loser being eliminated and the winner advancing to a best-of five-series against the second-place team from the other group. The winners of those matches also will qualify for the Main Event.
Even though a lot of favourites didn’t make it to Worlds this year (RIP T1 and C9), the competition in Worlds 2020 remains as fierce as ever. And like at all grand tournaments of this scale - anything can happen. Will this year’s champion be an underdog story? Or a tale of a dominant force? Will we see the rise of someone truly unexpected? Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
