New Malaysian League of Legends team rises
Berjaya Dragons will debut at the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), taking on both veteran and new LoL teams across Southeast Asia and beyond.
Right when we're excited for the firecrackers of Chinese New Year, one of the largest company in Malaysia, Berjaya Corporation, surprises us with an equally rousing announcement of their brand new League of Legends (LoL) esports team - the Berjaya Dragons.
Set to make their first professional esports entrance at the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), Berjaya Dragons is the 10th and final team to compete in the all-new regional LoL tournament. The Berjaya Corporation-backed team will be the sole Malaysian representative for PCS, clashing with nine other top-tier and up-and-coming LoL teams from Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong:
Berjaya Dragons' team roster has yet to be announced, but with PCS just around the corner, looks like we won't have to wait long to until the lineup is revealed.
PCS is a combination of LoL's Master Series (LMS) and Southeast Asia Tour (LST). 10 teams - both veterans and newcomers - will outwit each other for a seat on the global competitive stage, Worlds 2020, to be held at Shanghai Stadium. The tournament's competitive format will also be different, as the number of games will be increased, incorporating a best-of-one format and a double elimination grand final.
The online competition begins 8 Feb, and will be available in English, Mandarin, and Thai. The PCS website will be up and running soon.
