Flash Wolves and Invate Esports Win Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason (TW and TH)

Another weekend of the SEA Icon Series: Preseason Wild Rift tournament came to a close yesterday, with new winners crowned in two regions.

Taiwan

Flash Wolves were crowned the victors of the SEA Icon Series: Preseason Taiwan, after a gruelling best-of-seven series against ONE Team. Both squads went through the earlier stages of the playoffs undefeated (despite playing best-of-fives) and were the only ones to take games off each other. Unfortunately for ONE Team, Flash Wolves were the better team on Sunday.

Flash Wolves walk away with USD $2,500, while ONE Team $1,250. 3rd place went to ahq e-Sports Club ($750), and 4th MESPORTS ($500). If you want to catch all the action, the replays are on YouTube (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4).

Thailand

For the Thai leg of the tournament, things got a little more interesting – the grand finals was a rematch of Saturday’s winner bracket finals, which saw Invate Esports paying EVOS Esports TH back for knocking them down to the lower bracket. Invate dished out some heavy punishment and destroyed the grand finals in a 3-0 stomp – playing like a completely different team from the day before.

Invate Esports won $2,500, EVOS Esports TH $1,250, Clutch Gamers $750, and Made In Thailand $500. Watch the replays here (Day 1, Day 2).

Based on the picks of the past three weeks, we can start to see some trends emerging – Braum and Gragas have been top-tier picks, highly valued by most of the regions, along with champs like Kai’Sa (TH and VN), Corki (VN and TW), and Oriana (TH and MY). Each region also has preferences for champs that aren’t as favoured in the rest of SEA. We can’t wait to see what the games will be like once the regions start mixing with each other.

The Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason continues this weekend. Make sure you stay tuned to eGG Network to catch all the action!
