HQ Esports Win Free Fire Asia Championship

It was an exciting weekend for Free Fire fans in SEA as the grand finals of the Free Fire Asia Championship unfolded on Sunday evening. While the best 12 teams in the region competed, only one got to walk away with the grand prize, and that team was HQ Esports of Vietnam. Coming from the gruelling play-ins the previous week, the team pulled out all stops in the finals, winning 3 out of 7 possible BooYahs - the most of the tournament. They proved to everyone that they didn't need a direct invitation to take out the best of the best.

Well played to ThaiSon, FunkyM, NeoNao, NangK and Artemis - they walk away from the tournament $80,000 richer! A huge sum of money for the Vietnamese squad who have only started making strides during the latter half of 2021. Things are looking good for the team moving forward to next season.

Second place went the way of GPX Esports, who performed admirably in this final as well, unfortunately, they lost out by a mere 2 points. The Indonesians netted $50,000 which is a nice chunk of change. Third place was CGGG followed by Heavy in fourth. Fun fact - the top 4 teams all came from the Play-In stage (SYZYGY finished sixth, so it was almost an "all play-in" top 5). Seems like playing extra games really benefited the teams when it came to this tournament. Perhaps teams might start aiming for a play-in spot in the future!
