Now that we know the dates, the teams, and the venue of the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship, the only thing left to discover is – who will go up against who? Unfortunately, we don’t have the answers for you right now, but it won’t be too long until we find out.
Moonton has announced on their Facebook page that all 12 teams will be split into 4 groups, with each team containing 3 teams. The only criteria for the separation of teams being – no group can contain teams from the same country. This makes sense since M2 is all about international competition – after seeing SG vs MY or ID vs ID all year long, it’s about time we see some cross-region bloodshed! Bring it on!
This separation also means that teams who are familiar with each other in their own regions won’t have the same advantage in the early stages of the tournament. A handy rule to make sure we get the most exciting matches possible. Also, teams who are good enough shouldn’t have any issues moving forward regardless of their opponents.
No word on what the group stage format is going to be, but I suspect more will be revealed soon. The group drawing process will take place on 12 December, there should be a livestream up on that day.
