Finally, after 6 gruelling weeks, the teams of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia/Singapore (MPL-MY/SG) Season 6 have been decided. Not much has changed since the mid-season recap two weeks ago, it seems like the top teams have managed to maintain their consistency in the league.
Upper Bracket starters:
Entering into the upper brackets of the playoffs will be: Todak, Resurgence, EVOS SG, and Red Reborn. Todak undoubtedly have been on fire over the past 6 weeks, with a flawless group stage of 9 match victories. Resurgence have remained consistent with their last season’s performance, and EVOS SG and Red Reborn filling up the two remaining slots. If we had to predict, the winner of the whole tournament would probably come from this group. However, as they say, anything can happen during the playoffs.
Lower Bracket starters:
Orange Louvre had a slow start to the league stage but they managed to climb back up over the past few weeks. For a team that was formed right before the tournament, it looks like they’re coming together in time for the main event. Perhaps their ‘newness’ has given them an edge over their opponents who don’t have much material to study in preparation for them? Expect them to be one of the dark horses of the tournament.
Team SMG seems like they also have the potential to go far in the tournament, while Geek Fam have been very disappointing, not winning a single game in the past two weeks. We’re unsure if the team is facing any issues, but they are a far cry from what we saw in Season 5. Bosskurr barely snuck into the lower bracket over Divinity – they’ve got a lot of stepping up to do if they intend to take the trophy home this season.
Divinity eSports and Forsaken – both teams from the open qualifiers, have a long way to go before they go toe-to-toe with the big boys, but hopefully, they’ll stick around and improve as a team. Perhaps we’ll see them in the upcoming MPL-MY/SG Season.
The Upper Bracket matches will start off with local affairs – Malaysian teams going head-to-head in one match, and Singaporean teams in the other, with the winners facing off against each other for a spot in the grand finals. Looks like it’s going to be a very interesting playoffs weekend.
For the lower bracket, things are slightly more interesting, with teams of similar calibre duking it out. No clear favourites in the meantime, but Orange Louvre look like they can go far if they keep their momentum.
The MPL-MY/SG S6 playoffs will take place on the 23-25th of October, so stick around to eGG Network for all the latest news and updates on MLBB!
