SEA Dota 2 Major Qualifier Recap: Surprises, Upsets, and Teams Heading to Copenhagen
Qualifier Results
SEA qualifier for Copenhagen Major has concluded, and results have shaken up regional power rankings. Berikut adalah two teams that secured their spots:
Qualified Teams
- Boom Esports — Dominated upper bracket, dropping only one game across three series
- Aurora — Fought through lower bracket with three consecutive 2-1 victories
Notable Eliminations
- Talon Esports — Fell 1-2 to Aurora in lower bracket finals after a heartbreaking Game 3 throw
- Team SMG — Knocked out in first round of lower bracket, continuing their disappointing season
Series of Qualifier: Aurora vs Talon (Lower Bracket Final)
standout series was undoubtedly lower bracket final between Aurora and Talon Esports. After splitting first two games, Game 3 saw Talon build a commanding 20,000 gold lead at 35 minutes — a position that should have been unloseable.
But a disastrous Roshan fight, where Talon's carry was caught out of position by Aurora's Enigma Black Hole, swung game entirely. Aurora wiped Talon, claimed Aegis, and marched down mid lane to end game and series.
Boom Esports: Clear Favourites
Boom's run through upper bracket was convincing. Their new carry player, 23savage, has slotted in seamlessly, and his synergy with mid laner Yopaj has given Boom a dual-threat carry dynamic that other SEA teams struggled to contain.
Coach Mushi's drafting was particularly impressive, consistently finding comfort picks for his cores while limiting opponent options.
What This Means for SEA Dota
SEA region continues to produce world-class Dota 2 talent, but gap between Teratas and bottom of region is widening. With Boom and Aurora heading to Copenhagen, SEA fans will be hoping for at least one deep run on international stage.
Copenhagen Major runs from April 24 to May 4.
