Truly prime examples of zeroes to heroes to in the PUBG Global Invitational.S (PGI.S), FaZe Clan’s PGI.S Weekly Finals 3 proved firsthand that every single competing team stand a chance to bounce back in the battle royale world series, no matter their overall rankings.
In a single weekend, the American squad went from possessing US$1,000 to garnering US$207,189 in one fell swoop. After being the eighth team to win their qualifying Winner Winner Chicken Dinner in Weekly Survival 3 (as well as earning US$1,000), FaZe went on to snag first place in last weekend’s matches with 96 total points, resulting in US$100,000 in winnings, with the PGI.S crowdfunding filling in the gaps of their US$200k cash prize.
Their impressive Weekly Final 3 performance boosted them to the top of the overall PGI.S leaderboard, overtaking the likes of Four Angry Men and Virtus.pro, who are in second and third place, respectively.
However, we’re only halfway through the PUBG global series, especially when prize monies for subsequent Weekly Finals will be doubled to ramp up the stakes and give others a fighting chance. Nevertheless, FaZe can relish their latest glory for now before readying themselves for the next rounds. After all, they can just as easily topple as they climbed.
Also, in conjunction with the midway point of PGI.S, a special series of event matches titled the Survival Tournament will be happening this Friday onwards (5 – 7 March).
All 32 teams will be grouped into eight groups of four squads, and face off in a drastically shrinking and more painful Circle that shortens matches to around 13 minutes. Though cash prizes will be rewarded to the top 4 teams, it won’t count towards their Main Event standings. Nevertheless, it’s another way to witness how the pros will duke it out in a higher-stakes format.
