PMPL SEA Finals 2020: Yoodo Gank enter World League with 5 chicken dinners

Fans were treated to a jaw-dropping finale when the Malaysian team unexpectedly won two more WWCDs today.

Next up: the global stage! It feels too soon that the Southeast Asian leg of the PUBG Mobile Professional League (PMPL SEA) Finals 2020 ended, with the regional tournament coming to a close today.

After three days of hard-fought battles and aggressive yet smart plays, Yoodo Gank won the regional competition with a grand slam: five Winner Winner Chicken Dinners and a whopping total of 126 kills. As the PMPL SEA Finals 2020 champions, they will join five other teams - including fellow countrymen, Team Secret, and runner-up King of Gamers Club - in battling the world’s best PUBG Mobile team in the PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 East Division.

World-class act

Just when you think Yoodo Gank has gotten their fill of chicken dinners, they went ahead to secure two more today for Match 11 and 14. Despite getting ambushed and stuck between teams - even to the point of almost getting wiped out earlier - in the day’s first match, they still managed to recover properly and held on until their victory.

It’s worth noting that Draxx has been the MVP several times (including this round), gunning down enemy players left and right like a crazy good fragger even when he’s supposed to play a more supportive role.

The Sanhok match that got Yoodo Gank their second WWCD.

“We actually exchange roles between us from time to time,” Draxx revealed. “So everyone is pretty much a multirole player.” Though we aren’t sure if it’s a tactic they’ll stick to in the World League, all that matters is that their new play style paid off in the finals, and are on their way to the upper echelons.

“We’re very thankful for getting here,” said captain Manparang. “We’re glad we got to prove ourselves and become champions.”

Going global

As for the other Malaysian teams, Team Secret fared pretty well by placing fifth overall. They largely got knocked out early today, but were so close to winning another chicken dinner before Yangon Galacticos blew them up skyhigh in Match 13. It was their good fortune that they managed to keep their placement by performing reasonably well in the first two days. Ultimately, as winners of the PMPL MY/SG Grand Finals 2020, Team Secret will be seen next on the world stage of PMWL 2020 East.

Not their final form yet

Bigetron AROV placed third in PMPL MY/SG 2020.

On the flip side, Bigetron AROV couldn’t get back the magic that scored them their first WWCD yesterday and were stuck in a slump today, getting knocked out early in all their matches. Although they managed to get six kills in the last match, their earlier knockouts lowered their placement from 10th to 12th. Even so, all’s not lost for Bigetron AROV, because they can try for the big leagues again next season during the Fall Split.

The PMPL SEA Finals 2020 was held over the weekend from 1 - 3 May. No other details have been revealed regarding PMWL 2020 East just yet.
