Just when this writer has been binging on Avatar: The Last Airbender for the umpteenth time, PUBG Mobile introduces the power of bending the elements in its latest major update 1.2, along with Fallout-like Power Armors that’ll let mobile gamers live out their power fantasy. PUBG Mobile 1.2 is one chunky update so brace yourselves!
Runic Power Mode
The Runic Power Mode brings three otherworldly magic powers exclusively to Erangel. Pick the type of Rune you want – either Flame Rune, Arctic Rune or Wind Rune – on Spawn Island, and scour the map to acquire Rune energy to use your special powers against your enemies. Each Rune has two skills – one that’s active, and another that’s passive:
|Flame Rune||Arctic Rune||Wind Rune|
|Active||Summons a wheel of flame that rolls forward slowly, dealing burn damage to anyone it touches.||Summons an ice wall. Each block of the ice wall can be destroyed separately. When the ice wall appears, it will lift up players or vehicles directly above them.||Summons a semi-transparent shield of wind that reduces the damage of bullets shot from outside the shield.|
|Passive||Adds a burning effect to your ammo for a short time to deal extra damage.||Adds a freezing effect to ammo for a short time, reducing the effectiveness of healing.||Increases your movement and reload speed.|
The Runic Power Mode will run from 12 January to 7 March.
Power Armor Mode
Dive onto Livik and create your very own high-tech Power Armor, reducing damage to specific body parts and other perks. Gather Nano Crystals and an Armor Blueprint across the map before bringing them to the Matric Base to build your weapon of mass destruction. You’ll also have two extra lives to respawn your teammates and yourself in each match, and random Matrix Events will pop up in every match that switches up the playing field, including more loot and devices that detect nearby players.
Alas, Power Armor Mode will only launch in EvoGround on 5 February, but at least we have Runic Power and another update to enjoy, which is …
Metro Royale: Honor
The next chapter of Metro Royale introduces new rewards, improved gameplay (Steel Front’s and the Cobras’ enemy AI are now smarter and tougher) and a new Honor system that rewards you with voice packs, outfits, and other permanent rewards. Honor represents strength in Metro Royale, and can be increased by eliminating players, collecting Honor items, and by completing weekly missions. If you want to enjoy Metro Royale without encountering other players, then the new Solo mode is the one for you.
The new 5.56mm assault rifle boasts the highest Rate of Fire for rifles, making it a beast in close-quarter combat. The FAMAS can be attached with a Muzzle, Scope, and Mag; it comes with its own bipod that reduce recoil when shooting in a prone position. If you want to have a taste of this new shredding gun, enter the Livik map to try it out!
