PUBG Mobile World League to be held online, and more

We’ve got some big updates for all you PUBG Mobile fans out there. In a video featuring James Jinho Yang, Director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports, released yesterday he announced significant changes to the PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL). Due to the impact of COVID-19, PMWL will be completely held online. To address ping issues, it will be split into two leagues (East and West) as the majority of teams and players aren’t able to travel in these trying times. This season of PMWL will also be labelled Season Zero.
PMWL Season Zero features a whopping $850,000 prize pool – the largest prize pool for a single event in PUBG Mobile esports, and will take place from 10 July-9 August. Matches start at 6pm IST (8.30pm GMT+8) for the East and 12.30am IST (3am GMT+8) for the West.

All the familiar teams in the spotlight over the past few months will be present in the tourney for the East (go Yoodo and Secret!), while for the West, a large number of teams are to be decided by PMPL Americas.

Yang also teased the new esports studio they built with ESL in Katowice, Poland. Called the PUBG Mobile World League Stage, it features tons of lights and plush looking seats, and is one attractive looking venue! However, there was no mention of when it will be utilized – probably not anytime soon.

Lastly, if you have what it takes to compete with the big boys – grab your ragtag team to sign up for the PUBG Mobile Fall Split Open Qualifiers on 24 June. Here’s your chance to make a mark on the big stage! Rules and more information are available on the official website.
