It seems like Valorant is ready to go full swing next year. After spending the past few months trying out small-scale Valorant tournaments, today, Riot Games announced the launch of the Valorant Champions Tour 2021 – a season-long competition tour set to take place throughout 2021 for Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia, and will conclude with a single global Champion at the end of the year. If you’ve been waiting for the Worlds equivalent of Valorant, this sounds like it.
The climb to the top isn’t going to be easy though – players will need to prove themselves at two tiers – Valorant Challengers and Valorant Masters before they even get a chance to compete at Valorant Champions. At the Challengers level, it will be a regional contest between all teams from that area. The Masters level will feature only the best in the region, and only the teams that make it out of Masters will get to compete at Champions. Then we’ll see the best of the best going head to head to earn the coveted Champion title.
The tournaments will take place over the course of the year, starting in January and finishing in December. No word on whether travel restrictions will have lifted by then, but all fingers crossed. Fortunately, the bulk of the action is going to be regional (probably to account for the pandemic) so we’ll just have to wait and see. With the Challenger level being open to everybody, we believe that we’re going to see a lot of new faces in the scene vying for their chance at greatness. Will you be one of them?
