If you’re a fan of events with long names, you’re in for a treat – Riot Games has just announced the League of Legends: Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Preseason. A teaser of the esports scene to come in 2021 for the mobile MOBA, it will be a five-weekend-long regional tournament where teams will be competing for the title of local champion. It will also serve as a prelude for the upcoming eight-week-long Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Summer season – which will be open to anybody.
But first, the Preseason – featuring the biggest established teams in the region, it will give viewers a taste of things to come. Kicking off on 26 February for Vietnam, it will cover all the familiar regions in this part of the world – Malaysia (6-7 March), Taiwan (11-14 March), Thailand (13-14 March), The Philippines (20-21 March), Indonesia (19-21 March) and Singapore (26-28 March).
The following teams will be participating in the Preseason tournament:
- Indonesia – Alter Ego, Onic
- Malaysia – Berjaya Dragons, TODAK
- The Philippines – Bren Esports, RRQ PH, Team Secret
- Singapore – The Alliance
- Taiwan – Flash Wolves, ONE Team, TXO
- Thailand – King of Gamers Club
- Vietnam – V Gaming, Saigon Phantom, SBTC Esports
