After teasing the collaboration with BTS earlier this month, it's finally here! Garena announced today that its Free Fire collaboration with the Korean superstar boyband will make its debut this week. Starting tomorrow (23 March), the Generation Free Fire campaign will kick off with plenty of goodies for both fans of the game and the artists.
First up, there's going to be The Free Fire x BTS Show, an exclusive two-episode collaboration variety show where all seven members of BTS engage in a series of activities and discussions with Gen FF being the theme of the show.
Update 22/3: We have been informed that the Free Fire x BTS Show will be launching in April - not this month, so stay tuned for that!
What's a collaboration without skins? That's right, players will be able to earn in-game skins and emotes based on designs drawn by BTS! A great way to show you're part of the A.R.M.Y. Lastly, there are going to be BTS banners and artwork hidden in surprise locations. The show goes live tomorrow while the BTS collection content will be released in phases throughout the campaign starting 24 March. Make sure you follow Free Fire on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for more info. Free Fire is available for download now on Android and iOS.
Call of Duty: Mobile might not get that much buzz here but the competitive scene is alive and kicking, for those of you who are interested. The group stage of the Garena Masters, a tournament featuring the top sixteen teams from Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines; ended last month and the playoffs to wrap it up will be taking place this weekend.
The remaining teams will be duking it out in a double-elimination, best-of-five format to win their cut of the USD 25,000 prize pool and championship title. Here are the 8 teams left in the playoffs.
Looks like there’s potential for a spicy final weekend, depending on whether the teams show up. Make sure you mark your calendars for 12-13 March, 3 PM (GMT+8) onwards, and tune in to Facebook SG/MY, PH, YouTube or Twitch to catch the matches live! More info.
Back in January, Garena teased the Assassin's Creed Free Fire collaboration and it looks like the update is available in the game now. Like what we've come to expect, there's an in-game reskin, crossover collection items and some new elements across in-game maps.
Visit the Sanctuary in Bermuda, a new building that features loot and a tower for players to perform the iconic Leap of Faith from. And for those of you who like taking screenshots in the game, there will be a contest for you to submit pictures of your epic leaps.
Other cosmetic changes include new skins for players, vending machines, the airship and airplane. To celebrate the launch of the update, they've also released a theme song for the occasion:
Good news for the musically-inclined Free Fire fans, Garena has some new activities for you. They announced today a bunch of updates to tie in with the release of the new Squad BEATz music video. First up, we have the Boom Boom BEATz web event, where players are invited to use the provided beats to make their own music. Players will be able to easily share their creations with the rest of the world and even stand a chance to win a Brassy Core Gloo Wall skin. A pretty rad challenge for the more creative folks out there!
Next up is a new game mode: Pet Ludo. Featuring four Free Fire pets, Mr. Wagger, Moony, Sensei Tig and Ottero; it is based on the traditional Ludo gameplay with a twist. Take part in the game to win prizes and cosmetics to dress up your characters. Who can say no to free stuff?
Lastly, players will be able to redeem a Squad BEATz-themed backpack when they login to the game on 12 February - the same day the official music video for Beats Penuh Kuasa launches. The full song is available for listening now on Spotify and you can check out the teaser for the music video below.
And of course, what is an update without new skins? Here's a preview of what you can get during the Squad BEATz event (12-20 February):
The holiday season is just around the corner and nobody should be left out from enjoying the festivities - including those who are less fortunate. Garena announced today that they will be teaming up with Kechara Soup Kitchen, a non-profit and non-governmental local organization, to redistribute surplus food and donate fun packs to the underprivileged this week. The campaign, titled "Mr Waggor's Airdrop", aims to distribute food to over 500 families in the Klang Valley.
Kicking off today, from 20-23 December, they will be setting up collection points on those days from 4-6 PM for people in need to pick up food and fun packs. Families and kids will also be able to interact with Mr Waggor, their mascot for this campaign, at the venues.
In addition to the food drive, Garena's hit battle royale game, Free Fire has kicked off a new in-game event called "New Age", where players can earn present-shaped tokens to exchange for prizes like legendary weapon crates and an emote. The event is live now and lasts until 31 December. Free Fire is available for free on Android and iOS.
The last major Free Fire tournament has already taken place this year, but that doesn't mean that it's the end of FF esports this year. Garena announced today the launch of the Free Fire Challenger Series Malaysia (FFCM) and unveiled its MCP Esports Roadmap for 2022. From 8-11 December, players can start registering for the FFCM through the game itself. Users need to be at least Diamond 1 Rank and Level 20. Eligible terms for the in-game qualifiers will compete on 11 December, from 1-5 PM (GMT +8).
The top 48 teams from the open qualifiers will proceed to the qualifier finals on 20-21 December, with the top 18 teams moving on to the League Stage for a slot at the FFCM Grand Finals. The FFCM League Stage will take place in January, and Grand Finals on February 2022. The top 6 from the Grand Finals will move on to the MCP (Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines) Major Season 3.
As for the rest of 2022, the Challenger series will be repeating itself along with MCP Major Season 4. There will also be two international tournaments in 2022 but nothing has been revealed yet. Expect them to be similar to the World Series this year, hopefully offline (if the global situation gets better).
