After a month of competing, the top teams in the PUBG Mobile Professional League Malaysia Singapore Season 4 made their way to the last leg of the tournament, and today was the final day. Here's a quick rundown of what happened.

Match 1 - Erangel

An exciting standoff in the final moments of the map with 3 teams confined in a block of buildings off the coast of Mylta. It finally boiled down to Team Secret's Fredo vs VXM FanX's Iftar, who unfortunately lost his life accidentally jumping out of the safe zone trying to backstab Fredo, giving his opponent the first win of the day.

Match 2 - Miramar

Geek Fam played a safe and solid round, staying alive as a full squad until the final moments of the map. With the odds stacked in their favour (4 vs 1 vs 1), it was a walk in the park for them to eliminate RSG MY and Team SMG, grabbing them the first WWCD of the day and third of the tournament.

Match 3 - Erangel

Another great game for the 'Fam as their play safe strategy seems to be working out for them. In the final moments, sacrificing DamRUDE to keep SEM9.GANK busy was enough to let the blue circle finish the job, giving Geek Fam their second WWCD of the day!

Match 4 - Sanhok

Geek Fam really turned up today, winning their third Chicken Dinner of the day! We're not sure what they ate this morning but the boys were on fire. With the extra points from their 13 kills this match, they look like the team most likely to bring the trophy home today.

Match 5 - Erangel

What an intense match that ended with only one member left for each squad for the top 2 teams. Team Secret snatched the final Chicken Dinner of the day, getting themselves the second one of the day, and denying Geek Fam their fourth. Team Secret ended the day as they started it. Regardless, it wasn't enough for them to topple Geek Fam, who remain in the top spot.

Congratulations to Geek Fam for winning the PMPL-MY/SG S4 grand finals! This marks the first major victory for the roster, could this be a sign of things to come? We can only hope so.

And that concludes PMPL-MY/SG S4! Some disappointing performances from teams such as Axis RedONE, Yoodo Alliance, RSG MY and HomeBois. They'll have a few months to fix their problems and train for the next season. In the meantime, we'll get to see the top 3 teams in action at the next level of competition - PMPL SEA Championship Season 4 League happening in October. PMPL is far from over, so stay tuned to eGG Network to keep abreast of all the latest updates!

Xorn

Nama penuh: Mohamad Zul Hisham Bin Mohd Noor
Umur: 21
Peranan: Multirole

Dominus

Nama penuh: Nik Aqieff Bin Nik Muhammed Muhyyiddin
Umur: 21
Peranan: Captain/Mage/Assassin

Tak pernah lar dia tak makan nasi tak kesah lauk apa. Dia ni jarang makan, makanan ringan seperti saya. Tengok jela dia kurus macam tu je".

Musik kegemaran

Dominus: Kami pun tak tahu benda tu sekadar nak mengusik kami, yela dah jam berapa pagi kami masih gelak tak ingat dunia. Itulah pengalaman seram kami di gaming house.

Waktu lapang

In this series of articles, we shine the spotlight on players we think you should be looking out for in the playoffs of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 7. To kick things off, we have Geek Fam's flex player, Panda.

Panda joined the Malaysian organization in March this year after they reformed the MLBB squad, in time for season 7 of the MPL. While he might not be a household name yet, like his teammates Artz and Xorn, he has played 20 games for the team - third-most on the team this season. With a KDA of 4.8 and an impressive 709 average GPM (4th highest in the whole league), he's great at farming, while being active on the map at the same time. He holds a 64% kill participation score, and was also instrumental in their comeback against Suhaz EVOS, one of the strongest teams this season. The young lad is usually seen playing bursty heroes like Granger, Lancelot, Harith and Bruno - if it can take down opponents from 100 to 0 in seconds, he's probably commanding the hero on the battlefield.

Geek Fam will take on Team SMG for their first game of the MPL-MY S7 playoffs. The team in orange and black came out the victors in the past, but Geek Fam mentioned that they learn from their mistakes. Will they be able to pay Team SMG back? Since they are in the lower bracket, it's going to be do-or-die for the squad - expect Panda and his teammates to pull no punches and use every trick in the book in order to move forward.

The MPL-MY S7 playoffs kick off on 28-30 May, and will be broadcasted live on eGG Network TV, and the MPL Malaysia Facebook Page. Don't miss out!

Geek Fam has been on a tear lately, with their esports teams making it to all the big events - this week's PUBG Mobile Pro League - Season 3 2021: Southeast Asia Championship and next week's Mobile Legend: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 7 finals. Not to be left out are their very own Free Fire squad, who won the MCP Majors Season 1 and qualified for the internationally-renowned Free Fire World Series 2021 (FFWS).

Since they'll be representing Malaysia in Singapore next weekend, we had a quick chat with the squad to pick their brains and find out what they thought about the game and the tournament. The boys were also the focus of a nicely done documentary by Garena Free Fire, chronicling their preparation for the FFWS. Check it out:

Geek Fam's Free Fire squad is relatively young and have a lot of challenges to overcome in order to grow as a team - barely six months old, they've improved tremendously since their NOXSCAPE days during the Free Fire Tri-Nation Cup 2020. "The last six months has helped us build our chemistry and communication skills as a team. We’ve taken this time to build better teamwork and trust between team members," said Mohammad Akiq “Akiq” Akimi, the team's captain.

FFWS 2021 Singapore will be the first time they're playing together at an international event - offline, no less - while carrying the Malaysian flag at the same time. "We were nervous and happy when we found out we were going to represent Malaysia in FFWS, especially since our friends, family, and fans are putting their hopes on us to bring the victory home."

"We’re so happy to have the chance to meet and compete with other players across the region and are glad that Free Fire has been serving as a platform to help grow the esports scene. We’ve been seeing many talented players coming into the esports arena over the last few years, and are more motivated than ever to do our best for Malaysia and Geek Fam!" said Akiq.

Looking forward to FFWS 2021 Singapore, they had this to say, "We’re very excited to compete with Phoenix Force from Thailand in our matches. We’re all geared and ready to face our foes together."

Winning the MCP Majors Season 1 was only the beginning. Even though the squad were happy with their performance at the tournament, not everything was coming up roses. They had to adapt throughout the tournament, with one of their biggest mistakes being not listening to their in-game leader, Haziq. "It was a hard lesson to learn but the experience has made us bounce back and ready to continue as a stronger team," admitted Shoyu.

The team didn't go all out to celebrate their victory and settled for a humble team dinner instead. They cheekily assured us they're saving the bigger celebrations for when they win the FFWS 2021 Singapore. Fingers are crossed that the boys can bring the trophy back home! It's surely deserved, after all the hard work they've put in for the tournament (they didn't put their training on hold during Ramadan).

Signing off with a message to their fans, "We would like to express a thousand thank you’s to everyone who has been supporting us through the challenges and victories. We are very inspired and motivated from the unending support from them."

Here are the boys that round up Geek Fam Free Fire:

Haziq “Haziq” Daniel – Captain
Mohammad Akiq “Akiq” Akimi
Muhammad Hafiz “Apiz” Azhar
Muhammad “Shoyu” Aiman
Solehin "XZACK" Bin Habib Rahaman

Remember to catch Geek Fam at the FFWS 2021 Singapore from 28-30 May. Stay tuned to eGG Network for more news and updates on Free Fire esports!

Free Fire esports 2021 in Malaysia revealed to include three tournaments

The hustle and bustle of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 7 (MPL-MY S7) regular season might be over, but there's still one weekend of intense action left. In anticipation of the upcoming playoffs, we had a quick chat with the members of Geek Fam's MLBB squad to discuss their performance so far.

For those of you not in the know, Geek Fam went through a rebuild of the squad after two of their members, Ozoraveki and Rumpel left to form the Wild Rift squad. This meant that their shoes had to be filled with new players. Instead of fielding only two replacements, Geek Fam brought along six new players, turning into a 9-man squad. The team now consists of Artz, Dominus, Feekz, Heyden, Lilbee, Maima, Nellbie, Panda and Xorn, with their players swapping in and out depending on the game. Heyden, Lilbee, and Nellbie have yet to play during the regular season, but time will tell if they'll be given the chance in the coming weeks. For what it's worth, the team mentioned that everyone has been getting along, both old and new players alike.

Old + New

Their coach, Amoux admitted that regular season was a chance for the team to improve themselves. "Our focus was to repair the damage of what we were lacking, since it was a long season. It also allowed us to save some strats for the playoffs."

The team did decently in their group, ending second last with a 46% win rate (6-7 match score), but were far from being eliminated thanks to Team Bosskurr who weren't even close to contending their position. Funnily enough, Geek Fam were the only team to lose to Bosskurr (0-2, I might add!). According to Xorn, it was all part of the mind games they were playing. "Losing to Bosskurr felt humourous. Other teams were confused as to why we lost the match when we proved that we could defeat other teams easily. If they look down on us for that result, that's when we'll be able to strike back."

MPL-MY S7 has been a much tougher season for the team, as not only did they have to return to form, the competition grew tougher. "Each team and player has been improving to prove that they deserve the title as much as the other teams in wanting to be the best," said Xorn.

Confidence remains high for the boys, as they head into the playoffs, however, they're not about to underestimate their opponents. "Todak has a higher chance to win the championship, but that does not mean we will not fight to be two-time MPL champions," mentioned Feek. He also believes that Todak, Suhaz EVOS, RED Esports and them will be the ones to advance in the first round of the playoffs.

Geek Fam will have to go up against Team SMG, a team that they lost to on week 6 of the regular season (1-2) so it will be their opportunity at revenge. "Our coach always told us that 'mistakes are the best teachers' when he was with us in season 3. Since his return, he still uses that phrase to motivate us to strive harder. Against SMG, we will definitely do better than the performance we had on week 6," said Maima.

Their thoughts on the meta? "We think it's balanced now, but traditional tanks are falling out of favor since the current meta encourages double supports or fighter tanks," said Heyden. When asked if they missed Veki and Rumpel, the squad mentioned that they did - but they have a new generation of FAMS to make Geek great again.

Lastly, to all you Geek Fam fans out there "Thank you for your constant support, for having a lot of patience with us and trusting the process. We will do our best and try not to disappoint you guys in the playoffs."

Geek Fam will be playing at the MPL-MY S7 playoffs on 28-30 May. Make sure you stay tuned to eGG Network TV to catch all the action live! Follow MPL-MY or us on Facebook for more updates.
