Did you hear about Black Widow - the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film to be released for Phase Four - is being postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19? Sad reacts only for the geeky fandom, needing to wait for God-knows-how-long before we get to see a possible tease of the MCU post-Endgame. But no matter, Marvel has got our back covered by substituting Black Widow with another form of Marvel goodness: Marvel Duel, a free-to-play Marvel mobile card game decked out with your favourite superheroes and supervillains.
A result of the collaboration between Chinese developer Netease and publisher Marvel Games, Marvel Duel's gameplay centres around assembling your very own deck of cards, characters, equipment, abilities and traps, introducing a multitude of strategies to outplay your enemies. Before beginning your heroic journey, you have to pick one of five legendary Marvel superheroes with differing specialties to play primarily as: Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man and Star-Lord. Fret not on your selection, because Marvel Duel is packed to the brim with over 150 characters across the Marvel universe for you to try out.
With multiplayer combat visualised in striking 3D that'll feel oh so cathartic when you defeat your opponent, it's no wonder if non-gamers would consider living out the superhero or supervillain fantasy with Marvel Duel. So, if you're new to card games, don't you worry. The game offers a series of tutorials and in-game tips that cover every aspects of its mechanics - no matter how many times you play, you can be sure that you're a better dueler every single match.
Marvel Duel will be available on Android and iOS, with registration to join its closed beta test open until 19 Mar.
