In order to further curb the trying times, Esports Malaysia (ESM) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) are bringing to gamers at home, the My Esports: MyStay@HomeChallenge esports championship! The tournament will see participants go head to head in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile) respectively. Due to the present COVID-19 situation, the tournament will be held online from 9 to 14 April, involving 13 states and 2 federal territories.
The overall tournament is broken into 2 phases which include state and national levels:
In terms of prize pool, both games look to feature RM10,000.00 each at National Level and RM2,500 each at State Level.
Registrations will be open to esports fans from 6 April onwards. The targeted number of participants that ESM and KBS are looking at amount to 64 teams (320 players) for MLBB and 64 squads (256 players) for PUBG Mobile respectively.
ESM and KBS have also highlighted that this esports championship was not only organized as an additional means of passing time for gamers, but to also educate society about the potential of Malaysia’s esports athletes and to further the growth of the industry.
Throughout the course of the tournament, participants will also be exposed to the various ways of healthy gaming, emphasizing the importance of preserving one’s physical and mental health.
