After the amazing performance from the team during the regular season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia/Singapore (MPL-MY/SG), expectations were high for Todak to maintain their form during the playoffs and boy, did they deliver! Not only did they go on to win the whole competition, but they also kept their undefeated streak going! A notable achievement since they're the first team to ever pull off this incredible feat.

Before MPL-MY/SG S6, the team couldn't even make it past the group stage of the MLBB Pro League Invitational back in June. According to our interview with their manager, Ashi, it was due to the lack of time for their new players to build chemistry with the existing ones. What a difference the past few months have made!

At the press conference after the interview, Todak's Fighter/Tank player, Xray addressed the topic of team chemistry by revealing that the team spent a lot of time together to prepare for the tournament. They lived together in the same house, ate together and so on - they did everything as a team. Todak also thanked Ashi, as his guidance was crucial in helping the team make decisions together, which led to substantial improvements in their performance.

Grand Finals Recap

The Grand Finals of MPL-MY/SG S6 took place yesterday and was one of the most interesting matches we had the pleasure of spectating. Reminiscent of Season 4’s grand finals which featured the same teams (but different players), the pressure was on Todak to maintain their winning streak in the tournament, and EVOS SG to win a second MPL title.

Game 1

Moments before the final push

Todak were down for the whole game, while EVOS SG maintained control of the whole map until they were wiped attempting a push into the base of Todak. Immediately, Todak seized the opportunity to run down mid and end the game before all of EVOS SG’s heroes could respawn.

Game 2

Carried on the back of Ciku who never lost his cool - his amazing performance on Ling outmanoeuvred the whole of EVOS SG by split pushing to force them to deal with the lane pressure and then leaping to the other side of the map to join team fights. EVOS SG never had an answer for the slippery assassin. Eventually, 2 deaths in a row for Pokemon's Esmerelda meant that Todak had a ticket into their opponent’s base to easily end the game.

Game 3

EVOS SG showing signs of life

It was comeback time for EVOS SG who maintained firm control of the game from start to finish. The breaking point for Todak came when EVOS SG’s Potato who had been left alone, split pushed all the way to take out Todak’s bottom inhibitor. This lead to Todak splitting up their forces, leading to an unfavourable team fight, and subsequent game loss. EVOS proved that they weren’t out of the Grand Finals yet.

Game 4

Todak dominated despite being one inhibitor down

For the fourth game of the match, Todak rounded up their draft with an uncommon Atlas pick. EVOS SG played a similar game to the previous one, focusing on split pushing and taking out Todak’s bottom inhibitor at 8 minutes. However, that didn’t deter Todak from maintaining their aggression across the map. After a decisive team fight in the mid-game, they quickly secured Lord and pushed into EVOS SG’s base to win the game.

The New Champions

Todak defeated EVOS SG 3-1 to secure themselves the MPL-MY/SG S6 title. The team remains undefeated (in 12 matches) from start to finish of the whole season. With their very first MPL trophy in the bag, and their sights set on international competition, we're very interested in seeing if the Malaysian squad can keep this performance up. Considering how young the current line up of Todak is, we have a feeling that this victory is only the beginning.

MPL-MY/SG S6 might be over, but we've got plenty of news and updates on MLBB in the future, remember to stay tuned to eGG Network to be in the know!

Geek Fam, Orange Louvre, SMG and Bosskurr will need to put on a performance of a lifetime if they don't want to be eliminated on day one, unfortunately not all of them will be able to make it to the final day.

In addition to the title of MPL-MY/SG S6 Winner, here's the prize pool breakdown:

A cool $25,000 for first place, while 2nd and 3rd get $12,000 and $5,000 respectively. No chump change, especially for the smaller teams of the tournament! We're sure all teams will be putting on their A game this week. Who will you be rooting for?

Todak, the high flyers of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League-Malaysia/Singapore Season 6 (MPL-MY/SG S6) regular season, have had an almost perfect run so far - undefeated in 9 matches, with a score of 18-7. A stark contrast to their performance at their last major tournament, the MPLI 4 Nation Cup. What changed? What happened to the team in between that short span of time? We caught up with Ashi, manager of the team, to pick his brain about the team.

The team has had an outstanding group stage so far - how does it feel to make it to the upper bracket undefeated?

Alhamdulillah, the success of Todak to get victories without losing is a very proud thing. However, this success does not mean anything in the playoffs later and Todak will always train to further strengthen their grasp on the game.

Was this result expected?

Not at all. Honestly, we see MPL Season 6 as the toughest MPL for Todak, due to the other participating teams. Everyone is very strong, just that we are better prepared this season.

The last major tournament (MPLI), Todak didn’t do too well - was it because of the roster changes? If not, what’s the major difference between then and now?

I feel the failure of Todak during the MPLI was due to the lack of time for new players to build chemistry with old players.

Who was your toughest opponent so far, and why?

From my point of view, it is Resurgence because they are very creative in drafting for this latest patch.

Which teams do you think are the strongest this season?

Is there a big difference between the Malaysian and Singaporean teams? In terms of strategy and playstyles?

The difference isn’t that big but each of us have our own ideas for how the game should be played.

Todak look like the heavy favourites to win MPL-MY/SG S6 - how is the team coping with the pressure? Does it add unnecessary stress, or does it give you guys motivation to do better?

If it is true that Todak is seen as the team that will win MPL Season 6, I would like to say thank you for the trust and hope we’ve been given. It will definitely add a little pressure, but I am confident that the Todak players will be more eager to win.

Lastly, any words for your fans?

Thank you, we send our greetings and love to our parents, and also ask them to pray for the success of Todak <3

Catch Todak in action, along with the other top-tier MLBB teams, at the MPL-MY/SG S6 playoffs which kick off next weekend! Stay tuned to eGG Network for all the latest news and updates on the competitive MLBB scene!

RED Reborn is a team that almost didn't make it to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia/Singapore (MPL-MY/SG) Season 6. Due to the squad losing its sponsorship after last season, they had to go through the open qualifier to play this season. Fortunately for the squad who pulled out all the stops to make it, they successfully qualified.

Since then, it's only getting better for them with the team showing that they haven't lost their edge since their 3rd place finish in Season 5. Top four of the group stage, and starting in the upper bracket of the playoffs; RED Reborn are back, fiercer than before, and ready to take it all the way to the top. We caught up with Hawkeye, coach and manager of the team, and asked him about his team's performance so far.

How does it feel to have made it to the upper bracket of MPL MYSG S6?

We actually targeted higher than what we achieved. We aimed for first place, but a lot of meta change and patch updates changed a lot, so the timing of the update wasn’t suitable for us, but it’s okay. Our players didn’t mind, but if they had time to study the changes first, then would be better.

Who do you think was your toughest opponent so far, and why?

I think Resurgence, because we never won against Resurgence. Maybe we could’ve but we made some mistakes. Todak also we could’ve won against, but we also made a few mistakes.

What was the feeling like when you guys went against Orange Louvre and beat them 2-1? Are there any hard feelings?

We were satisfied, because we got to prove that we were the better team. No hard feelings with the players, no problem at all with them.

Which teams do you think are the strongest this season?

Resurgence, they should not be underestimated at all.

Is there a big difference between the Malaysian and Singaporean teams? In terms of strategy and playstyles?

I think, for now, Malaysia and Singapore teams have the same strategy, not like last time. In the previous season, Singapore's gameplay was much cleaner, now Malaysian teams are on par. There's been a noticeable improvement for all Malaysian teams.

Todak has been doing very well since their roster rebuild - why do you think that is so? Is it because there’s not enough data about the team to prepare for them?

Because this season they have made changes that I’m not sure of. Since Ikuto came into the team, Todak's synergy and energy have been different. They’re an entirely different team now. It's probably something that Ikuto contributed to.

RED is your new sponsor - how has it been working with them so far? What do they do to help out the team?

They gave us facilities and take care of us. We have a gaming house.

Lastly, any words for your fans?

Keep supporting us, pray for us to be champions of the Playoffs because we want to represent Malaysia in M2!

Stay tuned to eGG Network for more MPL-MY/SG S6 news and interviews! The MPL-MY/SG S6 playoffs will begin on 23rd October.

Finally, after 6 gruelling weeks, the teams of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia/Singapore (MPL-MY/SG) Season 6 have been decided. Not much has changed since the mid-season recap two weeks ago, it seems like the top teams have managed to maintain their consistency in the league.

Upper Bracket starters:

Entering into the upper brackets of the playoffs will be: Todak, Resurgence, EVOS SG, and Red Reborn. Todak undoubtedly have been on fire over the past 6 weeks, with a flawless group stage of 9 match victories. Resurgence have remained consistent with their last season's performance, and EVOS SG and Red Reborn filling up the two remaining slots. If we had to predict, the winner of the whole tournament would probably come from this group. However, as they say, anything can happen during the playoffs.

Lower Bracket starters:

Orange Louvre had a slow start to the league stage but they managed to climb back up over the past few weeks. For a team that was formed right before the tournament, it looks like they're coming together in time for the main event. Perhaps their 'newness' has given them an edge over their opponents who don't have much material to study in preparation for them? Expect them to be one of the dark horses of the tournament.

Team SMG seems like they also have the potential to go far in the tournament, while Geek Fam have been very disappointing, not winning a single game in the past two weeks. We're unsure if the team is facing any issues, but they are a far cry from what we saw in Season 5. Bosskurr barely snuck into the lower bracket over Divinity - they've got a lot of stepping up to do if they intend to take the trophy home this season.

Divinity eSports and Forsaken - both teams from the open qualifiers, have a long way to go before they go toe-to-toe with the big boys, but hopefully, they'll stick around and improve as a team. Perhaps we'll see them in the upcoming MPL-MY/SG Season.

The Upper Bracket matches will start off with local affairs - Malaysian teams going head-to-head in one match, and Singaporean teams in the other, with the winners facing off against each other for a spot in the grand finals. Looks like it's going to be a very interesting playoffs weekend.

For the lower bracket, things are slightly more interesting, with teams of similar calibre duking it out. No clear favourites in the meantime, but Orange Louvre look like they can go far if they keep their momentum.

The MPL-MY/SG S6 playoffs will take place on the 23-25th of October, so stick around to eGG Network for all the latest news and updates on MLBB!
