While Team Nigma haven't had the best year, things have been looking up for them outside of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. Since its establishment in 2019, the organization has been picking up big-name sponsors and partnerships in the middle east, and today we've got one more to add to the list. Galaxy Racer has just announced a merger of their esports division with Team Nigma to become Nigma Galaxy, with the intention to become a new esports powerhouse.

Nigma Galaxy will be the new esports team division of Galaxy Racer, which currently has rosters in many big games and players from over 20 countries. According to the press release, the colours of Team Nigma will stay, and it will become a separate entity from Galaxy Racer. With Galaxy Racer already branched out across many different industries and hoping to be the next big lifestyle brand, it makes sense they would want a separate entity to focus on one of their more intensive arms.

There's no mention of what this means for their existing SEA Dota 2 roster, but with them not qualifying to TI10, it's likely they won't continue playing for the organization in the future (not to mention, Valve has rules in place about teams owned by the same organizations competing). The official website doesn't have much to say at the moment. We've reached out for clarification and will update this piece when we have more info.

Update 22/9: All the current GXR teams will be renamed Nigma Galaxy and they will be releasing updates about all their rosters in the near future.

In any case, it probably won't mean much for Dota 2 fans besides seeing a new logo and calling Team Nigma by a different name - hopefully they bounce back in time for the next season of the DPC, with how stacked the region already is, it's not going to get any easier.
