OUR STREAMERS

Have you ever wondered what your favourite Facebook Creator’s strange habits or top local dishes are? In this series of interviews, we sat down with the stars of Dari Hati, an eGGs-clusive special documentary programme, to ask them a few lighthearted questions that were too amusing for the show!

Hadi Afiq “Paroi” Bin Mohammad Tahir is one spirited steamer that his viewers can’t help but be drawn to. It’s no wonder the Malaysian Facebook Gaming Creator has amassed his own following who dubbed themselves the Paroi Army, a testament to their unwavering support to their favourite video game streamer. After all, the family man genuinely loves what he does, regularly streaming Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) whilst role-playing as both Team Malaysia and a commentator that surely entertains anyone who watches his streams.

If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why?

Personally, I’d say tiger - they’re fierce, and they put their family and circle first. Like my fans, I appreciate them for being loyal and I feel close to them, not even toxic outsiders can stop us.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My family (wife, kids and parents), friends and fans, and Internet

What are your top 3 local foods?

  1. Nenek’s (Grandmother) masak lemak cili padi daging salai (Malaysian spicy coconut milk dish with smoked beef)
  2. Mom's asam pedas (sour spicy) dishes
  3. Wife's butter chicken

What weird beliefs or superstitions do you have?

I believe that when sleeping, your legs must never face the door, lest you get sleep paralysis.

What was the first video game you ever played? How were you introduced to it? How did you feel about the game?

Duck Hunt on NES. I had a gun controller that my Mom bought for me, but she also likes playing games and got hooked onto them. I played the game with her back in Seremban, and it was so exciting - it was something that’s totally new to me.

What do you like doing that relaxes or destress you?

Take my family on holidays, anywhere that’s different from usual.

What’s one interesting habit about yourself that no one else knows about you?

I like to plan everything and be punctual. Even before I came for the Dari Hati interview, I was already planning to come early. I’m also not too ambitious, and I’m open to learning and understanding everything, as long as it’s halal and achieves our goals.

Which country do you dream of living in, and why?

There’s simply no place like Malaysia. I feel like other countries will have their own issues with politics and currencies anyway, so I think this is still the best place to live in.

If you could master a new language, what would it be and why?

Arabic, so I can understand the Qur'an better and communicate with Arabs.

What are your worst habits?

I like bathing late in the day, but brush my teeth super early in the morning. My eating is a bit irregular also - I don’t eat a lot during the day, but it’s a different story at night.
