Riot Games have been fully committed to elevating the esports community's experience, further evidenced by their latest endeavour to partner with Esports Fight Club (EFC), a worldwide esports & tournament organization platform, for the international Valorant Champions Tour (VCT 2021), particularly the Southeast Asian region.

As the official esports platform for VCT 2021's regionals, the Valorant Challengers, EFC will be producing customised rewards to incentivize viewers and participants to take part in its activities, including redeemable in-game currency, in-game items, and exclusive physical merchandise - all in the name of improving the experience of the Valorant SEA esports community. To prevent fraud from bots and artificial traffic, EFC will be utilising the "Proof of View" technology to ensure up-to-the-numbers viewership.

Of course, this is just one of several efforts by EFC to improve user experience, with tournament management, content and broadcasting in the works as well. The entire initiative is a holistic one, with EFC working with officially licensed operations of each country, such as The Gaming Company (Malaysia and Singapore), Mineski Global (the Philippines), ESL Asia (Thailand), and 1UP Gaming (Indonesia), to bring this to life.

Singapore's Paper Rex are currently the two-time champions of Valorant Challengers MY/SG 2021.

The Valorant Challengers kicked off in February, with the top teams of each region's tiered tournament qualifying for the international Valorant Masters 2021 to face off against other top dogs from other regions. Teams will battle for points to progress to Valorant Champions, with the world's top 16 teams competing for the first-ever Valorant global champions title.

Registration for Stage 3 of the Valorant Challengers begins early next month (July) across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

Taking Logitech G Valorant Pacific Open+ and Valorant First Strike Malaysia/Singapore into account, fans have been treated endlessly with a slew of Valorant esports events, with the Valorant Challengers Malaysia & Singapore continuing the tradition.

The Valorant Challengers Malaysia & Singapore comprises three tournaments (labelled as Weeks) spanning six weeks, with a RM40,000 prize pool on the line. Each Week will begin with the open qualifiers, which adopt a best-of-one match format that will determine the top 8 teams to advance to the main event weekend; the quarter- and semi-finals feature best-of-three matches, followed by a best-of-five finals that will grant winners entry to the next Challengers event. But beware, this is a single-elimination tournament, which means that teams are out of the running when they lose a match.

The Stage 1 Week 1 open qualifiers took place last Friday (30 January), and the top 8 teams have been decided to compete in the main event weekend. Here are the confirmed teams of Valorant Challengers Malaysia & Singapore Stage 1 Week 1:

  1. Todak
  2. Reality Rift
  3. Team SMG
  4. Kingsmen
  5. Louvre
  6. Timing Monster Gaming
  7. Looking for Org
  8. Xiao

All maps will be available throughout the series, which include Bind, Haven, Split, Ascent and Icebox. Teams will select which map to be their arena at the beginning of the round. And if you happen to be a newly-converted Yoru main, worry not, because every Agent can be used during the Valorant Challengers series.

The main weekend event of Stage 1 Week 1 will run from 5 - 7 February at 9.45AM (GMT +8) daily. The Gaming Company, will be broadcasting on Twitch and Facebook.

However, if you and your buddies are looking to participate, registration for the Stage 1 Week 2 open qualifiers of Valorant Challengers Malaysia & Singapore is open until 14 February. Interested parties can register here, and be sure to read the rules.
