It’s been merely two weeks since Riot Games announced the Valorant Pacific Open and the SEA Invitational, as part of the game’s Ignition series. And now, we know which teams have secured a spot in the Valorant Pacific Open, after the conclusion of its national qualifiers over the weekend.
Here are the 10 teams who qualified for the main event:
- UNRATED (Malaysia)
- Vindicta (Singapore)
- MOTV.gg (Philippines)
- XORGEE (Indonesia)
- Nonamegaming (Thailand)
- Thailand Attitude (Thailand)
- Superdomineering (Taiwan)
- KILOISDEAD (Taiwan)
- OOW (Hong Kong)
- LEGENDs (Hong Kong)
Six additional invited teams will also be joining the fray, totalling up to 16 teams who will battle for the championship title and the winning prize money of US$13,000. The invited teams remain unannounced so far, but at least we know that the main event of the Valorant Pacific Open consists of two phases: a group stage, followed by the Playoffs.
The group stage will split the 16 participating teams into groups of four, with best-of-one matches as the deciding factor. The top two teams of each group will then progress to the Playoffs, with the bar raised by adopting best-of-three formats for the quarter- and semi-finals before culminating in a best-of-five Grand Final.
The Valorant Pacific Open group stage will run from 17 – 19 August, before the three-day Playoffs commence on 21 August. More details can be found on the official website.
In other related news, the Valorant SEA Invitational – the somewhat-casual counterpart to the Pacific Open – is happening this week on 11 July. Six teams of five renown game content creators and talents from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand will outgun each other for the largest slice of the US$10,000 prize pool, as well as bragging rights as the region’s ace Valorant players. Teams will also donate US$10,000 to the GlobalGivingโs Coronavirus Relief Fund to assist battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
