This week, we got to try out the soon-to-be-released Valorant Act 3 content, courtesy of a special invitation that our eGGcellent friends at Riot Games extended to us and other press media and influencers. So, yes, we got to play upcoming Agent Skye, chilled out with other players in the Icebox, and tried out the insanely cool Singularity weapon skins.
SKYE
The first Australian Agent/eco-warrior, Skye commands a pack of mystical beasts that aid her and her teammates in battle. The Initiator’s healing, scouting and even offensive abilities make her a valuable all-rounder in the field that assist her team to secure victory in various situations.
Abilities
Guiding Light
Equip a hawk trinket. Send forward a hawk that transforms into a flash that blinds enemies when you enable it. It works similarly to Phoenix’s Curveball, where you can guide the hawk by holding down the Fire button. One setback: your hawk can be destroyed.
Trailblazer
Equip a Tasmanian tiger (nope, not a wolf) trinket that releases said predator. You’ll take control of the tiger to scout out enemies ala Apex Legends‘ Crypto, and can also self-destruct in an explosive blast to damage nearby enemies. Can also be disrupted by enemy gunfire.
Regrowth
Equip a healing trinket that, well, heals your allies. Hold down the Fire button to create a healing circle that heals all teammates within your vicinity. But, you have a limited healing pool that depletes over time and can’t be recharged, not to mention that Skye cannot heal herself. Finally, another healer option besides Sage!
Seekers (Ultimate)
Equip a Seeker trinket that Fires three Seekers, tracking down the three nearest enemies. Each Seeker nearsights the enemies they hit. It’s like a short-range, more aggressive version of Cypher’s Neural Theft ultimate without the delay.
And finally, fulfilling Skye’s contract grants you:
- Three sprays
- Two Titles
- One Gun Buddy
- One Player Card
ICEBOX
The arctic excavation site of Icebox is the latest icy map to arrive on Valorant Act 3. It’s a vast arena when you’re in the outdoors, but it gets a little more claustrophobic when you’re inside its high-tech facilities.
It contains two big bombsites that are designed as combat grounds, and for the first time ever, horizontal ziplines will be making its debut.
The Icebox map will be available for Unrated, Spike Rush, and Deathmatch modes first before making its way to Ranked on 27 October.
SINGULARITY
Powerful, abstract, and mysterious, the Singularity are weapons of the far future. The ultra high-tech skins are available in a bundle or individually for these weapons:
- Sheriff
- Spectre
- Phantom
- Ares
- Melee
