A few months ago, we announced an alternative solution for budding streamers to jumpstart their livestreaming careers: the Game & Grow program, or simply known as GG. We received an overwhelming response from the community since then and weโve been going through each and every submission (by the way, itโs still open for applications).
Fast forward to today, a number of growing Facebook Gaming streamers with different backgrounds and content have since been a part of GG. We reached out to a handful of these creators to share their experiences with the program so that you have a glimpse of what it is like being a part of GG and to clarify any doubts you may have about it.
The streamers
Bravo Xgamer
Rashid โBravoโ bin Shamsul Kamal has been a streamer since January this year and joined the GG program a few months later in July. He usually plays adventure or story-driven games so that he can interact with his viewers more.
BluuHoo
A Facebook Gaming Creator since June last year, Muhammad Fawzan โBluuHooโ bin Sabirin also qualified for GG in July. A console gamer since young (as early as Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64), he usually streams PS4 games. โI stream a variety of games, but my niche has always been the Metal Slug series, bringing retro action to my viewers.โ
Mr. Tamim
The veteran of the bunch, Muhammad Tamim Faruq bin Khairul Azmi started his streaming career in November 2018 before joining the first batch of GG in July this year. Unlike most streamers, Tamim broadcasts himself playing an online virtual cycling simulator named Zwift, converting his bike into a cycling simulator device and ride indoors. โI get to combine three things I love into one: cycling, gaming and streaming.โ On top of staying fit and healthy (โI lost 10kg by doing this daily in three to four months!โ), he has fun streaming and interacting with his viewers, even inspiring them to take up cycling themselves.
Why did you decide to join the GG program?
Bravo Xgamer
I wanted to progress as a streamer and gain more exposure in the world of streaming.
BluuHoo
I guess the main reason would be โprogressionโ – not just for me, but for the many viewers who have been rooting for me, especially my community, the Bluu Crew. As a small streamer, youโre always looking for the next steps to improve your streams.
Mr. Tamim
I saw the potential of what GG can provide me, to help me gain more exposure and support for my live stream content.
Before joining GG, what issues did you face as an up-and-coming streamer? Has the program solved those problems, and how?
Bravo Xgamer
It helps by giving emerging gaming video creators like me the benefits of a Partner on Facebook Gaming, as well as benchmarks/KPIs for us to expand our opportunities.
BluuHoo
As an up-and-coming streamer, you tend to be on your own in the beginning, trying to understand how streaming works, how to entertain and get viewers to follow your streams, and ultimately build a healthy community around it. But, I am happy that the GG program is here to provide support, guidance and the necessary tools to enhance my streams so I can steer it to greater heights.
Mr. Tamim
Before I joined this program, I would have a hard time reaching Facebook if I encounter any issues regarding my live streams or payment matters. But, after becoming a GG partner, I have prioritized support and faster feedback on any issues I face.
How does GG help develop your streaming career?
Bravo Xgamer
- Organising collaboration streams with more popular streamers so that we get more exposure and be more known to the public;
- Hosting online courses on how to interact with our viewers better;
- Motivating GG partners to stream better and consistently by offering incentives and rewards.
BluuHoo
Building a streaming career can take weeks, months, and even years. Without proper guidance and clear steps, we might get lost along the way and hit a roadblock. But, with the GG program, I am able to network with other streamers from the program, access tools that help me build a great community and ultimately, a successful streaming career.
Mr. Tamim
Iโve been invited to join official Facebook Gaming events and bootcamps, which helps me to gain the necessary exposure and knowledge to grow my audience. Joining this program has allowed me to engage with more viewers, inspiring them to take up a healthier lifestyle through cycling and adopting healthy diets.
Would you recommend future streamers to join GG? And why?
BluuHoo
Yes, definitely. Having an established platform to take you to greater heights as a streamer will ease the journey and make it more enjoyable.
Mr. Tamim
If anyone is thinking of bringing their live stream to the next level, this is it. This is the shot that will take you there in becoming a professional streamer, because you will have a Facebook Gaming Partner badge displayed on your page. You would also benefit quite a lot from this program, and having a chance like this to expand your career doesn’t come often – itโs rare.
How would aspiring future streamers know whether they should join the GG program?
Bravo Xgamer
New streamers should join the program, because itโs a new form of opportunity for new streamers who want to develop themselves and their streams.
BluuHoo
If youโre an aspiring streamer who streams day in, day out, with a strong community that would like to see you grow, consider joining the GG program. Itโs here to help boost your streams to the next level.
Mr. Tamim
GG program requires you to have at least 3,000 followers on your page, and at least 200,000 minutes viewed. So, if you feel that you have reached these minimum requirements, then you should definitely apply for the program. It is indeed a good stepping stone for you to leap forward in your streaming career.
