What to watch: OGA Dota Pit and more

Selamat Hari Raya in advance to our fellow Muslims! Right when we’re already thrilled to spend time with our family and loved ones, the esports scene isn’t holding back on the excitement this week, let alone this weekend. From Dota 2 to League of Legends, it’s going to be an action-packed week.

OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: Europe/CIS

The European Dota 2 tournament entered the Playoffs yesterday (21 May), with the likes of Team Secret, Ninjas In Pyjamas, Virtus.pro and OG as the last teams standing. Adopting a double-elimination format, the grand finale of the OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: Europe/CIS will determine who wins the lion’s share of the US$150,000 prize pool and the glory of emerging as champions. Don’t forget that Malaysian Dota 2 player, Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, will continue his appearance as a member of OG!

League of Legends Mid-Season Cup 2020

A series that pits the top four teams of this season’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL) and League Champions Korea (LCK) against each other? LoL esports fans can definitely expect teeth-chattering exhilaration in the LoL Mid-Season Cup. The online tournament will see a group stage comprising two groups of four teams battling in a single round-robin format, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the single-elimination knockout stage; all matches are best-of-five. With a US$600,000 prize pool on the line, you can bet that these teams will be giving their all to secure victory.

The LoL Mid-Season Cup 2020 begins 28 May, with the knockout stage happening on 31 May. The live stream of the tournament will be available on Twitch.

Overwatch League May Melee 2020 (North America & Asia)

After three weeks of qualifier matches, the teams’ position in the two regional tournaments (North America & Asia) have finally been finalised for the Overwatch League May Melee 2020. A total of 20 teams – 13 for NA and 7 for Asia – will be fighting over their cut of the US$225,000 total cash prize, which will be split evenly between the two competitions. It’s high-octane Overwatch action that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

The Overwatch League May Melee 2020 for North America will commence on May 22, with Asia beginning on May 23; both tournaments will conclude on May 24. These two will be live on the Overwatch League YouTube page. You can get more details on their website too.
