The competitive Wild Rift esports season concluded at the Horizon Cup last year, with Chinese hotshots Da Kun Gaming lifting the trophy. While it may have been over a month ago, it was merely a taste of things to come. It looks like Riot Games are ready to come out swinging starting this month.

Riot Games have announced the launch of the first official season of Wild Rift Esports (last year was more of a prelude) and the regional leagues that will be fighting for a spot in the global championships: Wild Rift Cup Japan, Wild Rift North America Series, Wild Tour Brasil, Wild Rift Championship EMEA, Wild Rift League, Wild Rift Champions Korea, Wild Rift Latino America Open and Wild Rift Champions SEA.

Teams from the mentioned regions will be competing for a spot in the first official global tournament - Wild Rift Icons Global Championship, taking place this summer in Europe. It will feature 24 teams, 8 straight from regional competitions and 16 going through play-ins. The main event will consist of a group stage, knockout stage and finals day to determine the champions.

For Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS), there will be 6 sub-regions: Hong Kong & Taiwan, Malaysia & Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Registrations for the open qualifiers are now open until 15th January.

Teams must consist of a minimum of six players, consist of at least three sub-region resident players and no more than two import players, and every player must be 17 years of age or older at the time of registration.

If you and your squad have what it takes to play against the best, follow the links below to sign up for your sub-region:

The WCS open qualifiers will run a Swiss Bracket format with each team playing 7 rounds of best-of-three matches, and teams eliminated after 3 match losses. The top 8 teams proceed to the knockout stage where they will compete in a double-elimination bracket to qualify for a spot in the regular season.

The regular season will run from 25th February until 27th March in a double round-robin format. 8 teams per sub-region playing against each other twice in best-of-three matches. The top six advance to the playoffs that take place 1st to 10th April 2022. Stay tuned to Wild Rift Esports or eGG Network for more news and updates!
