Wild Rift Patch 2.1 introduces Xayah and Rakan, Lunar Beast event and more!

Riot Games has revealed some exciting details about their upcoming patch for their MOBA, League of Legends: Wild Rift. Bringing the game up to version 2.1, it will introduce a host of new features to the game in addition to two new champions who will be ported over from the PC version – Xayah and Rakan, the lovebirds of Vastaya. If you’ve been looking for new champs to play, this duo might be right up your alley.

For those of you unfamiliar, Rakan is a support who can buff allies with a shield, and Xayah is a marksman who specializes in dealing damage with daggers and feathers – we can’t wait to see how these mobile ports play!

As for the other features, we’ve got something that a lot of us have been waiting for – replays and spectator mode! Replays will be available for your 50 most recent matches, so fret not if you forget to start record or stream a game – you can always go back to record or clip from it later. At the moment there’s no rewind/skipping yet but expect it to be implemented in the future. You’ll be able to playback the games at different speeds though if you need to speed up or slow down the action. Unfortunately, replays will expire with each new patch, so keep that in mind.

As for spectator modes – you will now be able to spectate your friends’ matches while they are happening! For regular spectators, there will be a 3-minute delay (to prevent cheating), but in custom matches (i.e. for tournaments), there will be no delay for people in the allocated spectator slots. For those of you who don’t want to be spectated, you’ll be able to turn the option off.

Patch 2.1 will also introduce a Lunar Beast event – no word on what it entails, but it is described as “Empower the relics of revels past to tame the Beast and save the day.” Fortunately we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

Other new features include a ping display (to see your exact latency in game), portrait lock, new in-game chat settings, summoner spell timers, and a smite indicator. The patch also introduces a host of new skins and tweaks to champs in the game (both nerfs and buffs) as well as to items. If you want to see the full list, check out the official website.
