Zombie anime 算是 anime 裡面一個很奇怪的角落。每一部真正 creepy 的 undead 故事旁邊，也會有一些作品更偏 comedy、fan service，或者那種「haha zombies but cute idol girls」的能量。不是說這樣不好啦 bro —— Zombieland Saga、High School of the Dead、Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead 都有自己的觀眾 —— 但有時候你就是想看更不安、更 unsettling 的東西。
ComicBook Anime 整理了一份五部最 creepy zombie anime 的 ranked list，老實講，這也很好提醒大家：anime 裡的 undead horror 不一定永遠都是「有人被咬，大家開始跑」那麼直接。有些最恐怖的作品，是把 zombie 這個概念扭成更奇怪的東西。
5. Hellsing
Hellsing 通常會先被記得是一部 vampire action series，因為對啦，Alucard 根本就是 Dracula 出來跟 supernatural threats 開戰。但 zombie 元素其實也在裡面。系列裡的 vampires 會製造低階、無意識的僕人，基本上就像 undead flesh-eaters，尤其是在攻擊 Hellsing Organization 的時候。
對那些以前看比較 dark 的 late-night anime 剪輯、或者靠舊 DVD 店老闆推薦入坑的 Malaysian anime fans 來說，Hellsing 到現在還是有那種粗糙又 gothic 的 edge。它不是「純 zombie apocalypse」，但如果你想看帶 horror flavour 的 supernatural violence，它值得上榜。
4. The Empire of Corpses
這部 2015 年的 Wit Studio 電影，應該是這份清單裡最多人漏看的名字。Wit 最出名的是 Attack on Titan、Ranking of Kings、Spy x Family 這種大作，但 The Empire of Corpses 走的是完全不同方向。
設定把 undead experiments、歷史 references，還有 fictional icons 混成一個很 bizarre 的 zombie story。角色陣容包括 Thomas Edison、Ulysses S. Grant、Sherlock Holmes、Victor Frankenstein 這些名字。聽起來 macam fanfic chaos，但這部電影的視覺也夠強、夠 stylish，就算你平常不是特別找 zombie anime 來看，也值得 check out。
3. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress 也是 Wit Studio 的作品，而且如果你喜歡 Attack on Titan 那種「人類被困在牆後面」的緊張感，這部會很熟悉。只是這次威脅不是 Titans，而是 Kabane —— 比普通慢吞吞 zombie 危險很多的 undead monsters。
最 best 的部分是它的 pressure-cooker setting。人類靠躲在 fortified stations 和移動 trains 裡生存，所以整部 series 都有一種 claustrophobic 的「沒有地方安全」vibe。對喜歡 action-horror 又要節奏夠推進的 SEA viewers 來說，Kabaneri 很容易推薦。
2. Seoul Station
Seoul Station 是 Train to Busan 的 animated prequel，而 Train to Busan 基本上已經變成現代 zombie fans 必看的 South Korean zombie movie。這部 animated film 展示了更多 outbreak 的過程，而根據 ComicBook Anime 的清單，它在某些方面甚至更 disturbing。
裡面的 zombies 被畫得很噁心、很不舒服 —— 睜大的眼睛、暴力的動作、殘酷的攻擊，讓整個 outbreak 感覺很 ugly，而不是 cool。它對 Asian audiences 也比較貼近，因為 urban setting 比起常見的 Western zombie wasteland 更有 relatable 的感覺。
1. Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack
Junji Ito 當然會排第一。Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack 不是傳統 zombie story，但這正是它會黏在你腦裡的原因。它不是普通會走路的屍體，而是海洋生物用像機械蜘蛛一樣的腳爬上陸地，散播一場 nightmare，最後還連回 reanimation 和 body horror。
Gyo 最 creepy 的地方，是所有東西都感覺很 wrong。魚不應該那樣移動。機械不應該把死掉的東西帶回來。而 Ufotable —— 對，就是 Demon Slayer 那個 studio —— 竟然把這場 nightmare fuel 動畫化了。
如果你正在 planning 一個 horror anime night 跟朋友一起看，這份清單是個不錯的 starting point。只是 bro，吃 seafood 的時候最好不要開 Gyo。Bad idea。
