Crunchyroll is going all-in on Ani-May 2026, a month-long anime celebration that stretches across streaming, gaming, shopping, social content, and real-world events.

The campaign runs throughout May, but it actually kicks off a bit earlier. According to Crunchyroll, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc starts streaming on April 30, followed by That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea hitting cinemas on May 1 in select regions.

For anime fans in Malaysia and the wider SEA region, this is the kind of big platform-wide push that matters because it is not just about one title. It is Crunchyroll trying to turn the whole month into an anime season event, with content drops, fan engagement, and crossovers happening at the same time.

What’s part of Ani-May 2026?

Crunchyroll says the campaign will include several digital activations during the month, including:

  • weekly YouTube watch parties
  • a seven-day anime marathon on Twitch
  • Anime Awards-related TikTok content
  • additional creator streams and fan-focused content

The TikTok side will also feature names like The Weeknd, Winston Duke, and RZA, which shows how much Crunchyroll wants Ani-May to feel bigger than a normal promo cycle.

On top of that, the company is introducing a group of ambassadors for the campaign, including REI AMI, Big Sean, and Noah Lyles. They will take part through playlists, cosplay, and promotional content.

Membership deals and merch promos are part of the plan too

Crunchyroll is also using Ani-May to push platform perks. The company says there will be limited-time discounts on its Fan and Mega Fan memberships, which includes access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault.

Its online store is joining in too, with promo campaigns tied to exclusive merchandise and purchase bonuses linked to Crunchyroll mascot Hime.

For Malaysian fans, this part is probably the most practical. If you are already paying for anime streaming, Ani-May could be one of those windows where subscribing or upgrading makes more sense, especially if you also care about extra game access or limited merch. Of course, actual availability and shipping value can vary by region, so SEA users will want to check the fine print before spending.

Yes, there’s a gaming crossover too

One of the more unexpected collabs is with Forza Horizon 6. Crunchyroll subscribers will be able to claim an in-game Car Voucher that can be used in the game’s Autoshow system.

The game launches on May 19, with early access starting May 15.

That is a pretty interesting move because it shows Ani-May is not staying inside the anime bubble. Crunchyroll is clearly trying to reach fans who bounce between anime, gaming, and internet culture, which honestly describes a lot of the audience here in Malaysia and SEA.

Global events are coming, including APAC activations

Crunchyroll says Ani-May will also include physical activations around the world.

In North America, that means retail collaborations with Hot Topic and Bandai’s Tamashii Nations, plus fan events and screenings. In Europe, the campaign will include things like the Outernet in London and appearances at MCM Comic Con.

More importantly for us, Crunchyroll says Asia-Pacific will get retail collaborations, public installations, and convention appearances too. It did not specify every country in the announcement, so fans in Malaysia should probably keep expectations realistic for now and watch the regional schedule closely.

Still, the APAC mention is a good sign. Anime fandom in this region is already massive, and if Crunchyroll is putting more attention here, that could mean more brand activity, local partnerships, and event presence going forward.

The big anime titles being spotlighted

Crunchyroll says Ani-May 2026 will highlight several major franchises across the month, including:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Hell’s Paradise
  • My Hero Academia
  • Black Clover
  • Solo Leveling
  • Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

That lineup alone is enough to get fans checking in, especially since several of these series are already huge with Malaysian anime watchers.

If you are in SEA, the smart move is simple: keep an eye on the regional Ani-May schedule, check whether the membership promos apply in your market, and watch for any local cinema, convention, or retail tie-ins.

Ani-May 2026 looks like Crunchyroll trying to turn anime fandom into a full lifestyle event for a month, and honestly, that fits where the scene is heading.
