Spoiler warning: This article includes manga-related spoilers for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Demon Slayer fans finally have something fresh to look at while waiting for the next Infinity Castle movie, and yes, it is Inosuke time.
To mark April 22, Inosuke Hashibira's birthday, the official anime website shared a new celebratory visual of the fan favourite boar-headed fighter. Instead of going full battle mode, the art leans cute, showing Inosuke in chibi form, dressed in a light-coloured outfit and holding a bouquet of flowers. The whole visual uses a mostly blue colour theme, including the flowers, giving it a softer look than the wild energy fans usually associate with him.
ufotable is also using the birthday art to push new merchandise tied to Inosuke's birthday card, with the items being promoted through the studio's official X account and sold via its official webshop.
That might sound like a small update, but for Demon Slayer fans, it lands at a pretty interesting time. The franchise had a massive 2025 thanks to the first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy, which reportedly crossed 100 billion yen worldwide and became the highest-grossing anime movie ever, beating even Mugen Train. The first film opened in Japan in July 2025 before rolling out internationally in September 2025, and since then, fans have been waiting for real news on movie two.
So far, there is still no official update on the second film's release date. However, the Blu-ray and DVD release for the first movie has now been announced, which usually gets fans thinking the streaming rollout might not be too far behind. For Malaysian and wider SEA anime fans, that matters a lot, especially for those who missed the cinema run or just want to rewatch the fights before the next part drops.
Why Inosuke matters more now
Even though Inosuke has been one of the series' most popular characters for ages, he did not get a major showcase in the first Infinity Castle movie. He was thrown into the castle with everyone else and appeared briefly, but the film mainly centered on three other battles, none of them his.
Still, the movie clearly set up what is coming next. It ends with Inosuke ordering his Kasugai crow to take him to a strong demon, basically teasing that his real moment has not started yet.
And that next moment is a big one.
In the second Infinity Castle film, Inosuke is set to fight Upper Moon Two, Doma, alongside Kanao Tsuyuri. That alone is enough to get manga readers hyped, but the bigger emotional hook is that this battle is tied to Inosuke's past. The story has already hinted at why he grew up in the mountains and the tragedy involving his mother. The next movie is expected to dig fully into that history and reveal the demon connection behind it.
That is a huge deal because this is not just another flashy fight. For Inosuke, it is personal.
It is also one of the toughest situations he has faced. He and Kanao are going up against Doma without Hashira support, which makes the matchup even more dangerous. Even so, the story frames them as a surprisingly effective duo, despite not being natural long-time partners in combat.
For Malaysian fans, this is the kind of character payoff that usually hits hard. Inosuke has always been the chaotic bro of the trio, loud, reckless, and impossible to ignore, but his biggest scenes work because there is real pain underneath all that noise. If ufotable delivers this fight properly, movie two could easily become one of the most talked-about anime cinema releases in SEA when it lands.
For now, fans will have to settle for birthday art, merch drops, and the promise that Inosuke's main event is getting closer.
