CAPCOM’s Pragmata is already putting up big numbers. The sci-fi action-adventure has sold more than 1 million units worldwide in its first two days, giving the long-delayed project a pretty strong opening after years of waiting.

The game officially launched on April 17 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. That release actually came one week earlier than its previously planned April 24 date, so players got in sooner than expected. If you have not committed yet, there is also a demo available right now on all four platforms, which is a nice move for anyone still deciding whether the game is worth the jump.

For people who have been following this one since the start, this is quite a comeback story. Pragmata was first announced back in 2020 and was originally supposed to arrive in 2022. It did not make that window, and CAPCOM later delayed the release again in June 2025. After that many bumps, some fans were probably wondering whether the game could still land with impact. Hitting a million sales that fast is a clear sign that the interest never really disappeared.

In terms of setting, Pragmata takes place in a dystopian near-future version of Earth’s Moon, which already gives it a very different vibe compared to CAPCOM’s more familiar franchises. The publisher has also been pushing the game’s technical side, saying it makes heavy use of next-gen features like ray tracing to build a more immersive sci-fi world.

That matters for players here in Malaysia and across SEA too. Big-budget sci-fi games do not always get the same day-one noise around the region as massive multiplayer titles or long-running Japanese franchises, so when a completely different-looking action-adventure breaks through this quickly, it is worth paying attention. For local players on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, or PC, the fast sales start suggests this is not just a niche curiosity, it is one of those launches the wider gaming crowd is actually showing up for.

The demo being available across every platform is also a big win for our region. Not everyone wants to blind-buy a premium title, especially with game prices being what they are now. A playable demo makes it easier for Malaysian and SEA players to test performance, get a feel for the combat and atmosphere, and decide which platform makes the most sense before spending.

For CAPCOM, this early sales milestone is another reminder that the company can still turn long-gestating projects into major launches, even after multiple delays. For fans, it is probably just a relief to finally see Pragmata out in the wild and performing well instead of staying stuck in "maybe next year" territory forever.

Now the big question is whether the momentum holds after the launch window. But for now, clearing 1 million copies in two days is a very solid start.
