If you had "K-pop-inspired film merch, McDonald's, and streetwear" on your 2026 bingo card, congrats bro, this one is for you.
American label VANDY THE PINK and youth media company Complex Networks have teamed up with Oscar-winning film KPop Demon Hunters and McDonald's for a new apparel collection, with the collaboration announced on April 7. The drop is being sold through Complex Shop, and the whole theme leans hard into fan rivalry energy.
VANDY THE PINK summed it up in social posts with lines like "It's a battle for the fans!" and "Rep your side." That matches the direction of the collection, which is built around the movie's idol-group faceoff angle.
According to Complex, this apparel launch expands on the existing McDonald's x KPop Demon Hunters "dueling adult meals" promotion. So this is not a random fashion collab appearing out of nowhere, it's basically the next step of a campaign that is already playing up the competition between the film's featured groups.
The lineup includes "Battle for the Fans" T-shirts, plus pieces inspired by HUNTR/X and Saja Boys. Beyond regular tees, the range also includes long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, and jackets. Price-wise, this is sitting across a pretty wide spread, starting at US$45 and going up to US$300.
That means this isn't just throw-on merch for casual fans. Some of it is clearly positioned closer to collector fashion or streetwear territory, especially once you hit the upper end of the pricing.
For anyone who missed the earlier part of the campaign, the McDonald's collaboration started on March 31. It introduced two "dueling adult meals" themed around KPop Demon Hunters idol groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, plus the Derpy McFlurry. Each meal also comes with a collectible card pack that includes exclusive photo cards of HUNTR/X, Saja Boys, and Derpy access cards.
Why should Malaysia and SEA readers care? Easy. This is the kind of pop culture collab that hits multiple fandom lanes at once, anime-style film fandom, K-pop aesthetics, fast food collectibles, and streetwear. That overlap is super strong in this region. Malaysian fans already spend big on limited collabs, character tees, photocard culture, and branded food promos, so even if this drop is very US-centred right now, it's exactly the sort of thing SEA fans will end up tracking through resellers, forwarding services, or social media flex posts.
It also shows how far anime-adjacent entertainment merch has evolved. We're not just getting keychains and basic poster art anymore. Big collabs now want to live in fashion, food culture, and fandom identity all at once. Pick your side, wear the fit, collect the cards, post the haul, that's the play.
For KPop Demon Hunters, this is a smart move. The film already has recognisable group branding with HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, and that kind of built-in team rivalry is perfect for merch. Fans don't just buy a shirt, they buy into a side.
If you're the type who likes crossover drops that feel a bit chaotic but somehow still work, this one is definitely worth watching.
