Palworld 可能正在準備更大規模的 online 推進，沒錯，粉絲理論已經開始滿天飛了。
根據 Dexerto 報導，開發商 Pocketpair 已經在 South Korea 和 United States 申請 “Palworld Online” 商標，還附上了 logo。South Korea 的申請日期是 4 月 24 日，而 US 申請則在 4 月 27 日跟上。
這不代表一定會有新遊戲、MMO，或超大型 multiplayer 擴充——商標有時候也可能只是很無聊的商業保護。但 Palworld 本來就圍繞 co-op survival、base-building、creature collecting、crafting、raids，以及和 squad 一起製造混亂來打造，所以 Palworld Online 這個名字 memang 聽起來就不只是普通 patch 那麼簡單。
目前 Palworld 已經支援 multiplayer。玩家可以在個人 save file 裡和最多四人組隊，而 dedicated servers 則支援最多 32 名玩家。這個設定對小型朋友群、Discord communities 和 private servers 來說已經夠玩，但還不算是一些粉絲一直夢想的 massive shared-world experience。
所以這個商標才會引爆一個很明顯的問題：Pocketpair 是不是正在開發 MMO-style 版本的 Palworld？
粉絲意見分歧，但這個想法在紙面上其實很合理。Palworld 有很多系統都可以擴展成更 online-focused 的體驗——gathering、crafting、Pal progression、boss fights、dungeons、base defence、trading，以及更大型的 community events。想像一下 SEA servers 裡，Malaysian、Indonesian、Thai、Filipino 和 Singaporean 玩家一起建基地、farm resources、raid bosses。如果 Pocketpair 能把它做穩，這絕對會變成 Discord server 的燃料。
不過，這裡還是有幾種可能解釋。
最安全的猜測是，Palworld Online 可能只是目前 early access 遊戲內一次重大 multiplayer upgrade 的 branding。Palworld 預計今年正式推出 full release，所以 Pocketpair 可能正在為 launch 準備更正式的 online mode，或重新設計 server experience。
另一個可能是，這個名字和 Palworld Mobile 有關，也就是由 Krafton 開發的獨立 mobile 版本。Mobile survival games 和 MMO-lite 體驗在亞洲非常大，尤其 SEA 更是 mobile-first audience 很強的市場。如果 Palworld Mobile 更偏向 always-online progression、clans、raids，或更大的 multiplayer spaces，那這個商標也說得通。
當然，還有一個比較 spicy 的選項：獨立的 online Palworld project。這會是最令人興奮的路線，但目前也是最沒有被確認的一個。Pocketpair 還沒有正式公開 Palworld Online 到底是什麼，所以粉絲在 studio 直接說明之前，最好先控制一下期待。
對 Malaysian 玩家來說，本地相關性其實很清楚。Palworld 之所以爆紅，是因為它很容易和朋友一起入坑，尤其適合喜歡 survival games、但又想要 creature-collecting progression 的玩家。更強的 online 版本，可能會讓它更適合 gaming cafes、community servers、streamer events，以及長期 squad play。
最大的擔憂會是執行。更大型的 online systems 需要好的 servers、公平的 monetisation、anti-cheat，以及足夠內容讓玩家一直回來。SEA 玩家太懂 laggy servers 和 region mismatch 的痛了，所以如果 Palworld Online 真的成真，正式的 Asia server support 會非常重要。
目前我們手上只有商標申請，以及一群很吵的粉絲正在把線索串起來。但如果 Pocketpair 真的在為 Palworld 準備更大的 online future，這可能會是 survival gaming 近年最奇怪 breakout hit 之一的下一個重大階段。
