ASUS Republic of Gamers 發表了 ROG NUC 16，這台明顯是瞄準想要強大 PC 效能、但又不想在桌下塞一台巨大 tower 的 gamers 和 creators。
這次的重點組合很猛：ROG NUC 16 最高可配置 Intel Arrow Lake-HX 系列的 Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 290HX Plus，並搭配最高 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU。所以對，這依然是一台 compact machine，但 ASUS 明顯是把它定位成 small-form-factor gaming 和 creator workstation，而不是普通 mini PC。
對 Malaysian gamers 來說，這個賣點很容易明白。不是每個人都有空間放 full ATX rig，尤其如果你的 setup 在睡房、condo、宿舍，或 shared living area。一台可以直立或橫放的 compact box 真的很實用，而且 ASUS 也加入了 patented removable stand，讓 users 可以選擇最適合自己桌面的擺法。
效能方面，ASUS 表示 ROG NUC 16 在搭配 Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus 時，3DMark performance 比上一代 ROG NUC 最高提升 2.3%。這個數字老實說沒有 gila 誇張，所以不要只靠這個 benchmark claim 就期待什麼世代奇蹟。更重要的是整體 platform upgrade：更強的 CPU options、更新的 NVIDIA graphics、更快的 memory support，以及更多 AI/creator features，而且 footprint 比傳統 desktop 小很多。
Memory support 最高來到 128GB DDR5-6400，老實說已經超過大部分 gamers 需要的量。但對 streamers、editors、3D artists，以及一邊剪 video 一邊開 47 個 Chrome tabs 的人來說，這個 headroom 是有意義的。這也讓 ROG NUC 16 對 Malaysia 的小型 studios 或 creators 更有吸引力，因為一台 machine 就可以處理 gaming、editing、rendering 和 AI-assisted workloads。
Graphics 方面，RTX 5080 Laptop GPU 支援 NVIDIA DLSS 4.5，包括 machine-learning-based Super Resolution 和 Multi-frame Generation。對 AAA games 來說，ASUS 表示 DLSS 4.5 可以降低 latency，並為每個 rendered frame 生成最多 五個 additional frames，在開啟 ray tracing 和高 settings 時，應該能幫助 demanding games 跑得更順。
更新後的 Super Resolution transformer model 據說也能改善 lighting、fine detail 和 motion clarity。這不只對 games 重要，對 real-time rendering、video editing，以及最高 8K 的 creative workflows 也有幫助。NVIDIA Studio support 也是整套 package 的一部分，包括讓 creators 更快處理 image generation workflows。
Thermals 永遠都是 powerful compact PCs 最大的問題。ASUS 表示 ROG NUC 16 採用了升級版 thermal design；如果它真的要在小 chassis 裡壓住 Arrow Lake-HX chip 和 RTX 5080 Laptop GPU，這點絕對很需要。Compact gaming PCs 可以很 brilliant，但 heat 和 fan noise 才是真正見真章的地方。
對 SEA buyers 來說，如果你想要 console-like 的桌面簡潔感，但又要真正 PC 的 flexibility，ROG NUC 16 可能會是一個很強的選項。問題一如往常，會是 Malaysia RM pricing。Source material 目前還沒有 local price 或 availability，所以最終 value 很大程度會取決於 ASUS Malaysia 怎樣把它定位在 gaming laptops 和 custom small-form-factor desktops 之間。
