The weekly anime grind continues, and Agents of the Four Seasons is already lining up its next episode. The series has released the preview for Episode 8, which is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, May 16.

For Malaysian and SEA anime fans who track seasonal shows week by week, this is one to keep an eye on — especially if you enjoy fantasy stories with a more emotional, literary flavour rather than pure battle shonen chaos. The hook here is very much myth, seasons, longing, and duty, which makes sense considering the original light novel comes from Kana Akatsuki, the author behind Violet Evergarden.

WIT Studio Is Handling the Anime

The anime adaptation is being produced by WIT Studio, with Ken Yamamoto directing. The script is handled by Ayumu Hisao, while Namiko Torii is in charge of character designs. Music is composed by Kensuke Ushio, a name that should immediately get attention from fans who care about atmosphere and emotional scoring.

That staff line-up gives the series a solid foundation. For a story built around seasons and personal emotion, presentation matters a lot — the music, visual tone, and character expressions have to carry as much weight as the plot itself.

Main Cast

The voice cast includes:

  • Yuka Nukui as Hinagiku Kayo
  • Yoshino Aoyama as Sakura Himedaka
  • Sumire Uesaka as Ruri Hazakura
  • Ranko Baba as Ayame Hazakura
  • Hime Sawada as Nadeshiko Iwaizuki
  • Taku Yashiro as Rindo Azami
  • Shogo Sakata as Rosei Kantsubaki
  • Satoshi Hino as Itecho Kangetsu

It is a stacked enough group for fans who follow seiyuu culture, and honestly, this kind of series lives or dies on whether the emotional scenes land. If the performances hit properly, Episode 8 could be another strong checkpoint for viewers deciding whether to stay on board for the rest of the season.

What Is Agents of the Four Seasons About?

The story began as a light novel published under ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint in April 2021. The English release is licensed by Yen Press.

Its world is built on a poetic idea: long ago, only Winter existed. Out of loneliness, Winter created Spring. Later, the world asked for more balance, leading to the birth of Summer and Autumn. The beings responsible for maintaining this cycle are known as the Agents of the Four Seasons.

At the centre of the story is Hinagiku, the Agent of Spring, who vanished ten years earlier — and spring disappeared with her. After enduring painful struggles, she returns to restore the natural order and reconnect with Winter, echoing the old myth that shaped the world.

Why SEA Fans Should Care

For Malaysian anime fans, this feels like the kind of show that can quietly build a loyal following. It is not necessarily the loudest title of the season, but the combination of WIT Studio, Kana Akatsuki’s source material, and a fantasy-romance setup gives it strong potential for fans of emotional anime like Violet Evergarden or slower, character-driven fantasy.

If you are tired of every seasonal watchlist being dominated by power-scaling debates and hype fights, Agents of the Four Seasons offers something softer but still dramatic. Episode 8 arriving this weekend means now is a good time to catch up before the back half of the season starts shaping the bigger emotional payoff.
