Anime NYC is stacking August 22 with a pretty solid trio for anime fans: a Big West/Macross showcase, the English dub premiere of Go Forward, and the world premiere of the English dub for Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram.

For Macross fans, the Big West panel is the big one. The session will focus on the Macross franchise, with updates planned for upcoming merchandise and projects. On top of that, attendees will get an English-subtitled feature screening of Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walkūre.

That film is not just a straight recap. It reworks the Macross Delta TV anime into a compilation movie, while adding new scenes, a different story angle, and extra songs. It originally opened in Japan back in 2018, so this Anime NYC screening gives fans another way to revisit that Walküre era with subtitles.

SkySet Entertainment is also using the event to push Go Forward into the English dub spotlight. The panel will screen the first dubbed episode of the TV anime, followed by a Q&A with dub director Phebe Fabacher. SkySet first announced the dub in May, and the company plans to stream both Go Forward and its sequel, Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen. The dub is scheduled for release in late summer this year.

For context, Go Forward originally aired in 2003 with four episodes, while the sequel followed in 2004 with five episodes. So this is not some brand-new seasonal title suddenly getting hype treatment. It is more like an older short-form anime getting a fresh English-language entry point, which is always interesting for fans who missed it the first time.

Then there is Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, the 27th film in the long-running Detective Conan franchise. Anime NYC will host the world premiere screening of its English dub. The movie first opened in Japan in April 2024 and had a monster opening weekend: 2,274,333 tickets sold and 3,352,494,500 yen earned in its first three days, around US$21.7 million. It remains the highest-grossing film in the franchise. The film also had its U.S. premiere screening at Anime Expo on July 4.

For Malaysia and SEA readers, the key takeaway is not local release info — none was stated in the source — but the signal is still worth watching. Analysis: English dub premieres at major conventions can sometimes show how aggressively distributors are preparing older titles, franchise films, or niche catalog anime for wider international audiences. For fans here who follow Macross, Detective Conan, or retro anime discoveries, these panels are useful markers of which titles are getting renewed attention outside Japan.

No cap, the Detective Conan number is the eye-catcher here. A 27th movie still becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing entry says a lot about how strong Conan remains. Meanwhile, Macross getting a dedicated Big West panel keeps the franchise visible, and Go Forward getting a dub is the kind of small but neat catalogue move that hardcore anime fans love to spot early.

All three panels are set for August 22 at Anime NYC.
