Black Clover Finale Gives Vanessa a Big Black Bulls Promotion

After 11 years, Black Clover has properly closed the book on Asta’s journey — and the final extra material is still dropping some spicy squad updates.

According to details from the official guidebook released alongside the final Black Clover manga volume in Japan, Vanessa Enoteca has been promoted to Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls after the series finale.

That is a pretty big move, especially because the Black Bulls leadership changed massively after the final war.

So what happened to the Black Bulls?

The ending of Yuki Tabata’s manga already wrapped up the main conflict, but the new guidebook fills in more character details that did not make it into the main story.

The biggest update: after Lucius Zogratis was defeated, Asta was officially crowned the next Wizard King. That shift then triggered changes across the Magic Knights.

Yami Sukehiro left the Black Bulls to form another Magic Knights group on the side. With Yami no longer leading the squad, Nacht Faust stepped up as the new Captain.

And with Nacht promoted, the Vice-Captain seat passed to Vanessa.

Honestly, this makes sense lah. Vanessa may not be the flashiest fighter in the squad, but she has always been one of the Black Bulls’ most reliable emotional anchors. Her fate magic has saved the team in huge moments, and she has been around long enough to understand the squad’s chaos better than almost anyone.

Why Vanessa, not Noelle?

This is where the fandom debate comes in.

A lot of fans can argue that Noelle Silva is one of the strongest Black Bulls members by the end of the series. She had major development, especially during the final arc, where she faced her resurrected mother and found some closure with the Silva family.

But strength alone does not automatically equal leadership.

Vanessa’s promotion seems tied more to trust, seniority, and her role within the group. She has been part of the Black Bulls’ core for a long time, and her steady presence fits the Vice-Captain position well.

Noelle’s ending, meanwhile, is not as neatly resolved. The manga leaves her romantic feelings for Asta hanging, and she never really gets the kind of final status update that Vanessa receives here. Mimosa is also left in a similar unresolved zone when it comes to that emotional thread.

So for Noelle fans, yes, memang can feel a bit unsatisfying.

Vanessa’s Witch Forest path also changed

Another interesting detail is how this promotion positions Vanessa after the series’ Witch Forest storyline.

Vanessa has deep ties to the Witch’s Forest, so it once felt possible that her future might go in that direction. But the finale instead puts Dorothy, the Coral Peacocks Captain, in the role of the next Witch Queen.

That leaves Vanessa free to stay with the Black Bulls — and now she is not just staying, she is helping lead them.

Why this matters for Malaysia and SEA fans

Analysis: For Malaysia and SEA readers following the manga ending online, this is the kind of guidebook reveal that will keep the fandom discussion alive even after the final chapter. The main plot is done, but squad rankings, character endings, and “who deserved what” debates are exactly the stuff anime communities love to argue about.

Vanessa getting Vice-Captain is not just a random title change. It quietly confirms that the Black Bulls continue evolving after Asta’s dream comes true, and that the squad’s future is not only about raw power. Leadership, loyalty, and trust matter too.

For a series built around underdogs and misfits, that feels like a very Black Bulls way to end things.
