Bleach fans, the final stretch is going to take a bit longer than expected.
The production committee for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity has confirmed that episodes 49 and 50 have been pushed back. Episode 49 is now scheduled for Monday, October 19, while episode 50 is set for Monday, October 26. Both are listed for 24:00, which basically means midnight rolling into the following day.
The reason given is straightforward: the team is taking more time to improve the anime’s quality as the series moves toward its climax. Honestly, for a final arc this big, that is probably the kind of delay most fans would rather accept than watch the ending get rushed. Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War adaptation has carried some serious expectations, especially since it is adapting the manga’s last major arc.
Before the new episodes arrive, the anime will fill the gap with a “climax selection” of earlier episodes. These reruns seem chosen to build momentum before the endgame resumes:
- September 19, 11:15 p.m. — Episode 7, “Born in the Dark”
- September 26, 11:00 p.m. — Episode 28, “Kill the King”
- October 5, 24:00 — Episode 46, “The End”
- October 12, 24:00 — Episode 48, “The End Two World”
The Calamity is the fourth and final part of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime. The full adaptation has been structured as four cours, with breaks between them, covering the remainder of Tite Kubo’s original manga all the way to its ending. The arc itself spans volumes 55 to 74 of the manga.
This current final part premiered on July 25 on TV Tokyo at 11:00 p.m. JST. It later aired across other Japanese channels, including BS TV Tokyo, AT-X, Hiroshima TV, Niigata Broadcasting, and Sendai Broadcasting. Japanese streaming services began carrying it from July 26 at noon.
The music lineup is also already locked in: jo0ji performs the opening theme, “I-BULL,” while singer-songwriter 9Lana handles the ending theme, “Rasen” or “Spiral.”
For context, the Thousand-Year Blood War anime first kicked off in October 2022, ending its first cour that December with a one-hour special combining episodes 12 and 13. The second cour followed in July 2023, while Part 3 - The Conflict premiered in October 2024 and wrapped that December with another one-hour finale.
Viz Media and Fathom Entertainment also gave The Calamity a U.S. theatrical preview earlier this year, screening the first three episodes from June 25 to 29 in 943 theaters. Those screenings included both Japanese audio with English subtitles and the English dub, plus a behind-the-scenes conversation featuring creator Tite Kubo, chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi, and series director Hikaru Murata.
