Blue Archive Publisher’s Project RX Is Also Coming To Console

Nexon’s mysterious new anime game Project RX just got a bit more interesting, especially for players who prefer gaming on the big screen.

During an earnings briefing on May 14, Nexon confirmed that Project RX will release on console, according to Inven. Before this, the game had only been announced for PC and mobile, so the console news immediately makes the project feel bigger than your usual phone-first anime title.

To be clear, Nexon has not announced which consoles Project RX is targeting yet. No PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo platform names have been confirmed at the time of writing. The release window is also still TBA, so this is very much a “keep your eye on it” situation rather than a game you can wishlist and plan around immediately.

Still, for SEA players, this matters. A lot of anime-style games here live mainly on mobile, with PC versions usually treated as the “better performance” option. A console launch suggests Nexon may be building Project RX with a wider playstyle in mind — controller support, longer sessions, and maybe a more premium-feeling presentation. For Malaysian players who split time between mobile gachas, Steam games, and PS5/Switch gaming at home, that already makes Project RX worth watching.

What is Project RX?

Project RX is being developed by IO Division, a Nexon team led by Min-Seo Cha, who is known as the lead behind Blue Archive. That connection alone is enough to get anime game fans curious, because Blue Archive has built a very strong fanbase through its character writing, visual identity, and community-friendly worldbuilding.

Project RX, however, does not sound like a simple Blue Archive follow-up. Nexon has described it as an immersive 3D anime game with a slice-of-life “isekai” feel, where players spend time living alongside a cast of bishojo characters. Basically, expect the domestic, cozy character moments to be a major part of the appeal.

A teaser released last December showed 3D character models and calm everyday scenes, but it was not only about hanging out at home. The footage also included fantasy-looking elements and what seemed to be skill cutscene-style moments, hinting that combat may be part of the package too.

Built bigger than Blue Archive

Another important detail: Project RX is being made in Unreal Engine 5. Nexon has also reportedly doubled the development staff compared to Blue Archive, which suggests the company is putting serious resources behind this project.

That does not automatically mean open-world, and the source material specifically notes that Project RX is not an open-world game. But between the 3D presentation, Unreal Engine 5, increased team size, and now console support, it is understandable why fans are starting to speculate about how ambitious this game will actually be.

For the Malaysia and SEA crowd, the big questions now are simple: will it launch globally, will English be supported properly, and how friendly will it be for players who do not want another time-consuming daily grind? None of that has been answered yet, but Blue Archive fans in the region will definitely be paying attention.

Nexon has not locked in a release schedule, so the next proper updates will likely come through IO Division’s official X account and YouTube channel.
