Blue Lock's live-action movie just dropped a big casting update, and honestly, this is the kind of news fans have been waiting for. The film's official website released a new video announcing the actors for Team V's ace trio, one of the most popular rival groups in the series.

The three newly revealed cast members are Kōhei Higuchi as Zantetsu Tsurugi, &TEAM member K as Seishiro Nagi, and Keito Tsuna as Reo Mikage. If you've followed Blue Lock for a while, you already know why this matters. Nagi and Reo are two of the franchise's biggest crowd-pullers, while Zantetsu rounds out Team V's flashy, dangerous front line.

For fans, this is more than just another cast list update. Team V is a key part of early Blue Lock, and getting these three right is going to shape how convincing the live-action film feels. Nagi especially is a huge test case. He's one of those characters with insane popularity, very specific vibes, and a calm-but-lethal presence that fans will judge immediately.

That makes K's casting one to watch closely. Meanwhile, Higuchi and Tsuna bring their own recognizable screen experience to the project, which should help the Team V trio feel less like cosplay casting and more like an actual dramatic lineup.

The live-action movie is based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura's Blue Lock manga, which kicked off in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the manga's 38th volume on April 16, and the series also won Best Shōnen Manga at Kodansha's 45th Manga Awards in 2021.

If you're somehow new to Blue Lock, the setup is simple but spicy. After Japan's poor 2018 World Cup run, the country starts a brutal project to create the ultimate striker, gathering 300 elite youth players and pushing them into a ruthless survival-style training system. The whole appeal is that Blue Lock treats football less like teamwork fantasy and more like ego, instinct, and killer finishing.

That formula has worked very well in this region too. In Malaysia and across SEA, Blue Lock has built a proper crossover fanbase because it hits both anime fans and football people. We're in a part of the world where Premier League culture is massive, futsal is everywhere, and anime is already mainstream enough that a title like this can pull in viewers from both sides. That's why a live-action adaptation has real attention here, especially when fan-favourite characters like Nagi and Reo are involved.

The franchise is already huge beyond manga. The first TV anime premiered in October 2022 and ran for 24 episodes, with Crunchyroll streaming it alongside an English dub. Blue Lock vs. U-20 JAPAN, the second season, followed in October 2024 and aired for 14 episodes. A third season is also on the way, adapting the New Hero Wars arc.

Blue Lock's Nagi popularity has already been proven separately too. The BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- spinoff manga by Kōta Sannomiya, which focuses on Seishirō Nagi before entering Blue Lock, launched in June 2022 and ended in July 2025. Its anime film opened in Japan in April 2024, sold 337,000 tickets, earned 463 million yen in its first three days, and debuted at #2 at the Japanese box office. Crunchyroll is also streaming that film with subtitles and multiple dubs.

For the live-action movie itself, Yūsuke Taki is directing, Tetsuo Kamata is handling the screenplay, Shinzō Matsuhashi is producing, CREDEUS is in charge of production, and TOHO will distribute.

So yeah, this update feels important. Team V is officially taking shape, and for a Blue Lock film, that's not a small detail, bro. If this trio lands, fan confidence in the whole adaptation goes up fast.
