After 15 years as one of Fox’s familiar Sunday animation staples, Bob’s Burgers is getting a major scheduling shake-up.
Fox has confirmed its Fall 2026 line-up, and the Belcher family is not part of the network’s usual Animation Domination block this time. Instead of returning in the fall, Bob’s Burgers is being held for Fox’s midseason slate, expected around January 2027.
For long-time fans, that’s a pretty big change. Since its debut, Bob’s Burgers has been closely tied to Fox’s Sunday animation identity, sitting in the same broad ecosystem as shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and more recently other animated comedies. Moving it out of fall doesn’t mean the series is in trouble, but it does break a tradition fans have been used to for over a decade.
Fox’s planned Fall 2026 Sunday block currently looks like this:
- 8:00PM ET — The Simpsons
- 8:30PM ET — Animal Control
- 9:00PM ET — Universal Basic Guys
- 9:30PM ET — Grimsburg
The interesting bit here is that Animal Control, a live-action sitcom, is taking a slot inside what has traditionally been Fox’s animation-focused Sunday night branding. That alone tells you Fox is clearly experimenting with how it packages its comedy line-up.
This isn’t the first time Fox has shifted one of its biggest animated names away from fall. Family Guy was also moved out of the Fall Animation Domination schedule back in 2024 and pushed into midseason. So Bob’s Burgers following a similar route feels less like panic mode and more like Fox trying to strengthen the part of the TV calendar that usually gets less hype.
There’s also a practical reason behind the move. With longer-running shows like The Great North cancelled, Fox has space to fill in midseason. Recently, the network has used extra Family Guy episodes to patch those gaps, but that burns through a season quickly. Keeping Bob’s Burgers for January gives Fox another reliable animated series to anchor that window.
For Malaysian and SEA fans, the main takeaway is simple: don’t expect the usual fall rhythm. If you follow US animation news closely, this could affect when episode discussions, clips, memes, and spoilers start circulating online. Local availability will still depend on whichever platform carries the show in your region, so Malaysian viewers should keep an eye on local listings closer to January 2027.
The good news? Bob’s Burgers is not disappearing. The show was part of a major four-season renewal alongside The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad. The first season from that deal has already started rolling out, meaning fans can expect at least three more seasons from each of those shows in the coming years.
So yes, the fall absence may feel weird, especially for fans who treat Bob’s Burgers as part of their annual comfort-watch routine. But the move is more about Fox reshuffling its calendar than pushing the Belchers aside. If anything, Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise are now being used as midseason firepower.
