Boruto Writer Ukyō Kodachi Wraps Up 365 Days Left For Dinner Manga, Final Volume Lands July 17

Ukyō Kodachi's manga 365 Days Left For Dinner has officially reached the finish line.

The series ended in the June issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED, which published its final chapter on Friday. Its fourth and last collected volume is scheduled to ship in Japan on July 17.

This one is a notable title to watch if you know Kodachi mainly from bigger franchise work. While a lot of anime and manga fans around Malaysia and SEA will recognise his name from Boruto, this project went in a very different direction, leaning into food drama instead of ninja battles.

For 365 Days Left For Dinner, Kodachi is credited with the original work. Sonshō Hangetsuban handled the art, while Tsunakan Suda was responsible for composition. The story kicks off with a meeting between two girls: Tobira, who is described as the pride of a downtown Chinese restaurant, and Tsukasa, a consultant who is also a celebrity food consultant. Their clash is framed as something big enough to shake the very foundations of 4,000 years of Chinese cuisine.

That setup alone gives the manga a slightly wild hook, and honestly, it sounds like the kind of niche title that could build a small but loyal following among readers who enjoy culinary rivalry stories with strong personalities at the centre.

The manga first launched in Champion RED in March 2024. Akita Shoten then released the third compiled volume on January 20, before confirming the series would now conclude with volume four.

For fans in Malaysia and the wider SEA region, the bigger reason this ending matters is Kodachi's profile. He is still best known internationally as one of the major names attached to Boruto. Kodachi and Mikio Ikemoto launched the sequel manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2016. The series later moved to V Jump in July 2019, and Masashi Kishimoto took over writing duties from Kodachi in November 2020.

Kodachi also has a solid anime writing track record. He has served as head writer on titles including Chaos Dragon, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note, SEVEN KNIGHTS REVOLUTION: Hero Successor, and Fate/Grand Order The Movie Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot.

So while 365 Days Left For Dinner may not be the loudest manga on the market, it does show another side of a creator many fans already know through major anime and shonen projects. And because the series is ending at just four volumes, it also becomes a much easier pickup for readers who prefer shorter manga instead of committing to a super long run.

If you're a Malaysian manga fan who likes trying titles outside the usual battle-shonen lane, this might be one to keep an eye on once the final volume is out.
