Butch Hartman is playing with one of those crossover ideas that sounds cursed for five seconds, then suddenly makes way too much sense: The Fairly OddParents meets Family Guy.
The Nickelodeon veteran, best known for creating The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, recently shared a YouTube video where he imagined what would happen if Timmy Turner’s fairy-powered world crashed into Quahog, the home of the Griffin family. The key matchup? Cosmo versus Stewie Griffin.
For fans who grew up in Malaysia and SEA watching Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and whatever animated chaos was on TV after school, this is proper nostalgia bait — but the fun kind. Nickelodeon characters have crossed over with each other before through specials, games and merch, but they rarely step outside the Nick universe. So seeing Hartman sketch out a potential meeting between Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda and Family Guy’s most dangerous baby already feels like fanfiction with industry-level credentials.
Hartman also revealed a nice bit of animation history: he and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane both worked on Johnny Bravo back in the day. That connection matters because Hartman suggested the crossover is not completely impossible, especially since he and MacFarlane know each other. He also noted that he has voiced several characters on Family Guy before, so there is already some overlap between both worlds behind the scenes.
His pitch is very on-brand. In Hartman’s version, Stewie is feeling down and somehow ends up in Dimmsdale, where Timmy Turner lives with his wish-granting fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. Once Stewie discovers these magical beings can basically bend reality, he immediately wants them for himself. Naturally, because this is Stewie, the plan escalates fast: he decides Timmy has to be taken out of the equation.
Even better, Stewie would apparently team up with classic Fairly OddParents villain Mr. Crocker, which is honestly a gila good pairing. Crocker has spent years obsessing over fairies, while Stewie has the evil genius energy to actually make the plan dangerous. Timmy versus Stewie as the central conflict also works because both characters are chaotic kids, just from completely different ratings brackets.
Will it actually happen? That part is still very uncertain. The future of The Fairly OddParents is unclear after The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish season two, with no confirmed comeback yet for either the revival or the original series. Hartman continues to revisit the franchise on his own channel, though, and clearly still has ideas for where the characters could go.
Family Guy, meanwhile, is in a much stronger position. The series has already been confirmed for multiple new seasons, and a Stewie Griffin spin-off is also in development at Fox. That makes Stewie a very relevant character again, especially for older animation fans who grew up with both kid-friendly Nick shows and more adult animated comedies later on.
For Malaysian and SEA fans, this is probably more of a “don’t hold your breath, but please let it happen” situation. A crossover like this would involve different corporate homes, different tones, and a lot of approval headaches. But as a YouTube concept? It absolutely cooks. Timmy, Stewie, Cosmo, Wanda and Crocker in one story has the exact kind of unhinged cartoon energy that would dominate animation Twitter, TikTok edits and Discord chats overnight.
