Capcom Says 2026 Isn’t Over Yet As Onimusha Waits In The Wings

Capcom is having the kind of 2026 run most publishers would dream of, and yes, the company seems fully aware of it.

After launching Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Pragmata, Capcom USA has now posted a cheeky reminder that its year is not finished yet. The post, shared on Bluesky, shows those three games marked as already released, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword remains the only one still standing in full colour.

The caption? “We’re not done with 2026 yet.”

Simple line, big confidence.

Onimusha is carrying some serious expectations now

The funny thing is, by posting that, Capcom has basically put pressure on itself. If you are going to flex a three-game hot streak, the next release cannot come out feeling half-cooked. For Malaysian and SEA players, this matters because Capcom games are not exactly tiny releases here. Whether it is Resident Evil fans lining up for the next horror fix, Monster Hunter players grinding on console and PC, or action game fans waiting for something stylish, Capcom still has a strong pull in this region.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected to launch this year, though the article notes that it still does not have a specific release date. That makes it the next big question mark in Capcom’s 2026 calendar.

Not another Soulslike, and that might be good

GamesRadar previously went hands-on with the game and came away positive. Based on that preview, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a third-person action-adventure set in a dark, dangerous world. But importantly, it does not sound like Capcom is trying to make another Sekiro-style punishment simulator.

That is honestly refreshing. We have had years of games chasing FromSoftware energy, and while that formula memang best when done right, not every sword game needs to be a stamina-management exam. If Onimusha can deliver sharp samurai action without forcing everyone into Soulslike mode, it could hit a very nice middle ground.

For SEA players, that also means the game may be easier to recommend across the board. Not everyone wants to spend their weekend getting bodied by one boss for three hours, bro. Some people just want cool sword combat, creepy atmosphere, and that classic Capcom polish.

A comeback 25 years in the making

The Onimusha name carries history. The first game, Onimusha: Warlords, arrived 25 years ago, and the series has been quiet for a long time compared to Capcom’s other giants. Bringing it back in 2026 feels like a proper test: can Capcom revive another legacy franchise and make it feel current?

So far, the signs are encouraging. Capcom’s recent momentum is real, and if Onimusha lands properly, 2026 could become one of the company’s strongest years in recent memory.

No release date yet, but after this kind of public tease, Capcom has made one thing clear: it wants players to keep watching.
