Chainsaw Man fans, the wait is nearly over. Crunchyroll has confirmed that Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc will begin streaming on the platform from April 30.

That is a pretty big deal for fans in Malaysia and across SEA who skipped the cinema run, missed the digital release, or just prefer watching anime at home with the squad. Crunchyroll has not shared the exact drop time yet, so don’t be surprised if it lands based on platform timing rather than midnight sharp in Malaysia. What we do know: the movie will be available in both subbed and dubbed formats.

The release also opens Crunchyroll’s yearly Ani-May campaign. In previous years, Ani-May has included Crunchyroll Store discounts and selected anime being made free to watch. For Malaysian fans, the free-to-watch part is obviously the more interesting bit than overseas store deals, but either way, Reze Arc is clearly being positioned as Crunchyroll’s big May anime push.

The celebration will lead into the 2026 Anime Awards in Tokyo on May 23, where Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is nominated for Film of the Year. Not bad for a film that had to carry some serious expectations after the first season made Denji, Power, Aki, Makima, and all the chaos go mainstream.

Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and produced by MAPPA, Reze Arc has already pulled in more than US$160 million worldwide, putting it among the biggest Japanese animated movies ever. That number matters because it shows Chainsaw Man is not just internet hype or manga fan noise anymore. It is a proper global anime heavyweight, and SEA fandom has definitely been part of that wave.

IGN’s review before the North American release highlighted the film’s wild action scenes, romance angle, and strong soundtrack. That tracks with why this arc is so loved: Reze Arc is not just Denji slicing devils again. It is the point where Chainsaw Man gets more emotionally messy, more stylish, and honestly more painful.

The movie previously arrived on digital platforms in December and is still available to rent or buy through marketplaces such as Prime Video. However, there is still no confirmed home video release, which is a bit surprising given how big the film has become. For collectors in Malaysia who love Blu-rays, steelbooks, and shelf flex, that one still hurts.

This streaming date also lands soon after Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga came to an end. Shonen Jump published the final chapter after a sudden announcement, and reactions online have been mixed. Some fans were satisfied, others felt the landing was too abrupt. Very Fujimoto, basically.

The anime side is still moving, though. Season 2 is already in development at MAPPA and will continue after the movie with the Assassins Arc. So if you are planning to follow the anime properly, Reze Arc is not optional homework — it is the bridge into the next major storyline.

One thing to keep in mind: Crunchyroll recently increased prices across its streaming plans. For Malaysian anime fans juggling Netflix, Disney+, YouTube Premium, game battle passes, and mobile data, this is where the value question gets real. But if Chainsaw Man is one of your main fandoms, April 30 is probably the date to mark.
