Cosmic Princess Kaguya Cast Hits THE FIRST TAKE With Vocaloid Classic “World Is Mine” Remix

The Cosmic Princess Kaguya promo train is still moving, and this time it is hitting that sweet spot between anime, Vocaloid nostalgia, and YouTube music culture.

Yuko Natsuyoshi, who voices Kaguya, and Saori Hayami, who voices Yachiyo Runami, have returned to THE FIRST TAKE to perform “World Is Mine (CPK! Remix)”. Yes bro, that World Is Mine — the iconic Vocaloid track by ryo of supercell, now reworked for the Cosmic Princess Kaguya anime movie.

For fans who grew up around Hatsune Miku, NicoNico-era uploads, rhythm games, utaite covers, or just anime internet culture in general, this is a pretty fun crossover. THE FIRST TAKE’s whole concept is simple but brutal: one microphone, one take, no safety net. Artists go in and perform the song in a single shot, which makes these anime-related appearances feel less like normal promo clips and more like proper performance events.

This is not the first time the Cosmic Princess Kaguya cast has shown up there either. Natsuyoshi and Hayami previously performed “ray (Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version)”, a rearranged take on BUMP OF CHICKEN’s song. So the movie is clearly leaning hard into music as part of its identity, not just as background flavour.

Why Malaysian and SEA anime fans should care

For Malaysia and SEA, this kind of release matters because anime fandom here has always been deeply tied to music culture. You see it at cons, karaoke sessions, anisong DJ sets, cosplay performances, and even casual TikTok edits. A Vocaloid classic getting an official anime movie remix is exactly the type of thing that travels well across fan circles.

Plus, Cosmic Princess Kaguya is streaming on Netflix, which means Malaysian viewers do not have to wait for some obscure Blu-ray import or pray for a limited cinema run. If the performance catches your attention, the movie is already in a place most local anime fans can access easily.

The team behind the movie

The movie is animated by Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato, with Shingo Yamashita serving as both director and screenwriter. Saeri Natsuo is also credited on the screenplay, while Conisch handles the music.

The Japanese voice cast includes:

  • Yuko Natsuyoshi as Kaguya
  • Anna Nagase as Iroha Sakayori
  • Saori Hayami as Yachiyo Runami
  • Miyu Irino as Akira Mikado
  • Yuma Uchida as Rai Komazawa
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Noi Komazawa
  • Yoshino Aoyama as Roka Ayatsumugi
  • Konomi Kohara as Mami Isayama
  • Rie Kugimiya as FUSHI
  • Fairouz Ai as Otako the Loyal Dog
  • Natsuki Hanae as Koto Okotteru

That is a stacked lineup, especially if you follow seiyuu culture. Saori Hayami alone will get plenty of fans clicking, but names like Matsuoka, Uchida, Kugimiya, Fairouz Ai, and Hanae make the cast list even stronger.

What is Cosmic Princess Kaguya about?

Netflix describes the movie as a modern spin on Princess Kaguya, built around Tsukuyomi, a virtual world where people chase dreams, creativity, and different lives. The story follows Iroha Sakayori, a 17-year-old Tokyo high school student juggling school and part-time work. Her escape is watching streamer Yachiyo Runami, who manages Tsukuyomi.

Iroha spends time inside the virtual space supporting Yachiyo and playing battle games for extra cash. Then one day, she discovers a glowing telephone pole and finds a baby emerging from it. That baby rapidly grows into a girl around Iroha’s age — Kaguya. From there, Iroha helps Kaguya become a streamer and singer in Tsukuyomi, while darker forces begin moving to take her back to the moon.

Basically, it is classic folklore remixed with streaming culture, virtual worlds, and anime idol energy. Memang very current.

THE FIRST TAKE remains one of Japan’s biggest music channels, known for its single-rule format: artists must pour everything into one uninterrupted take. With over a hundred performers already featured, anime-related appearances like this give fans a polished but still raw way to connect with the music.
