Crunchyroll is making May a little easier on anime fans’ wallets with a limited-time Ani-May Premium membership sale — and yes, Malaysia is part of the promo.
The anime streaming platform announced that its Ani-May campaign is running across more than 35 countries, covering streaming, games, retail, and real-world anime experiences. For fans here, the important bit is simple: Malaysia is listed among the supported territories for the discounted Premium offer.
The sale runs from May 7 to May 21 in supported regions and platforms. Crunchyroll says both new and returning subscribers can take part, which is good news if you previously cancelled and were waiting for a decent reason to jump back in.
In the United States, the deal brings three months of Crunchyroll Fan down to US$1.99 per month, while Mega Fan drops to US$2.99 per month. Crunchyroll has not listed a universal Malaysian price in the announcement, and the company notes that pricing, discounts, and available content will differ by region. So for Malaysian users, the smart move is to check the Crunchyroll website or app directly before subscribing.
Still, Malaysia being included is a solid win. Anime streaming here can get messy because licensing differs across platforms and countries, especially when some shows land late or skip certain SEA territories entirely. A discounted Premium window gives casual fans a cheaper way to test whether Crunchyroll’s current catalogue is worth keeping, while hardcore seasonal watchers can catch up without committing at full price straight away.
The timing also makes sense. Crunchyroll is heading into its Anime Awards period while the Spring anime season is stacked with major titles. The announcement highlights shows such as Witch Hat Atelier and Daemons of the Shadow Realm, giving fans more reason to check what is currently streaming.
Another big title mentioned is Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which Crunchyroll says is available to stream outside France and Japan. If you missed it in cinemas, this is the kind of movie that could make a short Premium subscription feel worth it — especially for Malaysian fans who prefer watching legally in HD instead of playing the usual “which platform has it?” guessing game.
There is one catch: the Ani-May Premium offer does not include Crunchyroll Manga. So if you were hoping this would also unlock manga access, jangan berharap lebih sangat. This promo is mainly for Crunchyroll’s anime streaming membership tiers.
Some markets, including India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Thailand, will have certain promotions running until May 31. Malaysia, based on the announcement, is part of the May 7–21 window, so don’t wait too long if you want to claim it.
For SEA fans, this is worth checking out if your watchlist is already piling up or if you have been waiting for a cheaper way back into Crunchyroll. Just remember: local price and catalogue availability may vary, so confirm the Malaysian offer before you hit subscribe.
