Good news for dub watchers: Daemons of the Shadow Realm is back on track.
The Spring 2026 anime, which streams on Crunchyroll, had hit a delay for its English SimulDub earlier this month. Episode 5 did not arrive as expected shortly after the Japanese release, leaving dub fans stuck waiting while the main weekly conversation moved forward.
Crunchyroll later confirmed that the delay was caused by production issues, with the next English dub episode scheduled for May 16. That episode is now available, and the plan is for the dub to continue with weekly releases from here.
For Malaysian and SEA anime fans, this matters more than it sounds. Not everyone watches seasonal anime the same way. Some fans prefer subs on day one, sure, but dubs are a big deal for viewers who watch while commuting, multitasking, gaming on the side, or just relaxing after work without needing to stare at subtitles every second. A consistent dub schedule also makes it easier for friend groups to follow together without one person being two weeks ahead and spoiling everything in Discord.
The catch is that the Japanese version is now two episodes ahead of the English dub because of the delay. That is not ideal if you are trying to avoid spoilers online, especially with seasonal anime discourse moving fast on TikTok, X, Reddit, and anime Facebook groups. But compared to older dub release patterns, where fans sometimes waited months, a two-episode gap is still manageable.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm has also earned attention because of the name behind it: Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist. That alone gives the series a stronger pull, especially for longtime anime fans who grew up with FMA as one of the big gateway shows. The anime adapts Arakawa’s manga of the same name and opened with a premiere that played with expectations around its historical fantasy setup.
Since then, the show has been steadily expanding its world with new characters, powers, factions, and bigger story questions. That kind of mystery-box fantasy can be very fun when watched weekly, because every episode gives fans something new to argue about.
If you are watching in Malaysia or elsewhere in SEA, the practical advice is simple: if you are a dub-only viewer, Episode 5 is safe to queue up now on Crunchyroll, and the schedule should be weekly again. If you watch subs, you are still ahead, so maybe jangan spoil your dub-watching friends lah.
Either way, the delay seems to be over, and Daemons of the Shadow Realm is back in the Spring 2026 anime conversation.
