Sega has confirmed that Infinity Castle Shinobu will join Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 on April 17 as the sixth DLC character in the game's Infinity Castle Part 1 Character Pass.

That keeps the sequel's post-launch rollout moving at a pretty steady pace. Before Shinobu, the game already added Kaigaku on October 30, Infinity Castle Zenitsu on December 2, Infinity Castle Akaza on December 19, Infinity Castle Tanjiro on February 13, and Infinity Castle Giyu on March 11. Sega had also pushed out a free update earlier that added Muzan Kibutsuji to VS. Mode on September 18.

For Demon Slayer fans, Shinobu is an easy character to watch. She is one of the series' most recognisable Hashira, and her Infinity Castle version should be especially appealing for players who like faster, more technical fighters instead of pure heavy hitters. If you've been keeping up with the sequel's DLC pattern, this latest addition also shows Sega is still serious about feeding the competitive and casual side of the roster after launch.

The game itself launched in Japan on August 1 and then in English on August 5 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Players who bought the English Digital Deluxe Edition could start playing up to five days early.

That matters quite a bit for Malaysia and the wider SEA audience. Demon Slayer remains one of the region's biggest anime properties, and arena fighters still have a dependable crowd here, especially on PlayStation, Switch, and increasingly PC through Steam. For local players, frequent DLC support is a good sign that the game is being kept alive instead of quietly fading after launch. If you and your friends still run anime fighters casually, every new character drop gives the game another reason to come back into the rotation.

On the content side, Story Mode continues on from the first Hinokami Chronicles and covers the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. VS. Mode includes more than 40 playable characters, with Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji among the fighters offered as pre-order bonuses. Sega has also confirmed that all characters from the first game return in the base roster, including demons that were added through free updates and the Entertainment District Arc characters that were originally sold as paid DLC in the first title. On top of that, all nine Hashira are playable in the sequel.

The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with Kimetsu Academy character unlock keys for Kyojuro Rengoku and Tengen Uzui, plus unlock keys for Tengen Uzui, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima, along with VS. Mode system voices and costumes. In Japan, there's also a special physical edition that includes a figure and extra digital content, while pre-orders came with a special set of illustrated cases featuring art from ufotable.

As with the first game, CyberConnect2 is handling development, while Aniplex is publishing. The original Hinokami Chronicles launched in Japan and in English across Asia in October 2021, before releasing a day later in North America and Europe. Its Nintendo Switch version followed in June 2022.

For SEA anime gamers, the big question now is simple: how long can Sega keep this DLC cadence going, and which Infinity Castle fighters are next?
