Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Blu-ray Gets First Japan Preview Ahead Of July Release

Demon Slayer fans, the long wait for Infinity Castle at home is finally moving — at least in Japan first.

The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle film is getting its Japanese Blu-ray/DVD release on July 29, 2026, and a new preview has given fans a better look at what the physical package will include. The reveal shows off the home video artwork and some of the extra goods prepared for the release, including store-specific bonuses.

One of the highlighted bonuses is a FamilyMart-exclusive postcard set featuring Giyu Tomioka, with six postcard designs listed for the Japanese release. For collectors, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes Japanese anime Blu-ray drops so dangerous for the wallet — not just the movie, but the shop bonuses, limited extras, and packaging all become part of the hunt.

Why this release matters

Infinity Castle was already a monster release in 2025. Even without a weekly TV anime season pushing the conversation every weekend, the first film in the new trilogy became one of the biggest anime events of the year. In Japan, it stayed cinema-exclusive for around nine months, which is wild even by blockbuster anime standards.

Now that the theatrical run is done, the July Blu-ray/DVD release is the next major step. But for Malaysia and the rest of SEA, don’t get too excited just yet — there is still no confirmed international home video release date at the time of writing.

That said, anime movie rollouts usually follow a familiar pattern: Japan gets the physical edition first, then overseas fans may see digital rental or purchase options, streaming, and eventually international Blu-ray releases later. Nothing is confirmed for Infinity Castle yet, so Malaysian fans should treat this Japan release as a signal, not a guarantee.

What Malaysian fans should watch for

If you missed the movie in cinemas, this is the update to keep an eye on. Once a Japanese Blu-ray/DVD date is locked, international distribution usually becomes clearer after that. For local fans, the big questions are:

  • Will it come to streaming in Malaysia?
  • Will we get digital purchase/rental options first?
  • Will there be an English-subtitled regional Blu-ray release?
  • Will collectors need to import the Japanese edition?

For hardcore Demon Slayer fans here, importing might be tempting, especially with bonuses like the Giyu postcard set. But unless you can read Japanese or just want the collectible value, it may be smarter to wait and see whether a regional release with subtitles appears later.

Part 2 is still far away

The tougher news is that the wait for the next film looks long. Infinity Castle is only the first movie in a trilogy adapting the manga’s massive final battle arc. The sequel has not received a release date yet, and Ufotable’s previously revealed project slate suggests Infinity Castle Part 2 is not expected until 2027 at the earliest.

So yeah, Demon Slayer fans are eating — but slowly. The first film’s home release is good news, especially for anyone waiting to rewatch that cliffhanger properly. But the full trilogy journey is going to take patience.

For now, July 29 is the date collectors should mark for Japan, while Malaysia and SEA fans wait for the next international update.
